Troy Aikman spent Monday night analyzing what the Kansas City Chiefs<\/a> were doing on the field against Denver and one comment about what they supposedly did weeks earlier in training camp may now draw more attention.<\/p>\n

During ESPN\u2019s broadcast of Kansas City\u2019s 31-10 Week 1 NFL<\/a> victory over the Broncos, Aikman said the Chiefs had practiced in pads for six consecutive days during camp.<\/p>\n

That immediately caught the attention of NFL analyst Marcus Mosher, who suggested Aikman may have inadvertently raised a compliance issue.<\/p>\n

\u201cUhh… Troy Aikman probably just got the Chiefs in trouble,\u201d Mosher wrote on X. \u201cHe just said that the Chiefs practiced in pads six days in a row. You can’t practice more than 3-straight days with pads in camp.\u201d<\/p>\n

NFL training-camp rules place restrictions on consecutive padded practices as part of player workload protections, meaning Aikman\u2019s description sounded notable if taken literally.<\/p>\n

No violation has been established at this point.\u00a0Aikman may have been speaking loosely, and it remains unclear whether every session he referenced would meet the league\u2019s definition of a padded practice.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Aikman\u2019s wording under scrutiny<\/p>\n

The remark stood out because it came during a nationally televised game rather than through an anonymous report or offseason rumor.<\/p>\n

If Aikman\u2019s account was accurate, the league could review exactly how the Chiefs structured those practices. If it was simply an imprecise description, the issue may go no further.<\/p>\n

Mosher\u2019s response reflected that uncertainty while pointing out why the statement immediately sounded problematic. Kansas City had considerably better things to discuss on the field.<\/p>\n

Patrick Mahomes, returning from the ACL and LCL injuries that ended his previous season, completed 15 of 27 passes for 184 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. He also rushed for 23 yards and another score.<\/p>\n

Kenneth Walker III supplied the biggest offensive performance, rushing for 173 yards as the Chiefs controlled the game.<\/p>\n

Aikman drawing attention from Chiefs fans<\/p>\n

The training-camp remark wasn’t Aikman\u2019s only talking point Monday.\u00a0He also highlighted a possible missed holding call on Travis Kelce during a Mahomes touchdown run.<\/p>\n

\u201cTravis Kelce might have gotten away with a hold,\u201d Aikman said while reviewing the play.<\/p>\n

ESPN rules analyst Russell Yurk agreed, saying Kelce\u2019s arm appeared to restrict Broncos safety Talanoa Hufanga and prevent him from reaching Mahomes.<\/p>\n

Some Kansas City fans responded angrily online, accusing Aikman of being overly critical of the Chiefs. That debate will likely fade quicker than the training camp comment if the NFL decides it warrants attention.<\/p>\n

Kansas City left Monday night with a convincing win.
