The Jets had plenty of chances to seal their second win of the season.<\/p>\n

Aaron Glenn said they \u201cdictated\u201d most of the loss to the Packers, but \u201chave to make sure we can close the door and finish those types of games.\u201d<\/p>\n

Defensive lineman Harrison Phillips said of the defense, \u201cI think what we want to do is put the nail in the coffin.\u201d<\/p>\n

Left tackle Olu Fashanu called it \u201ca very winnable game.\u201d<\/p>\n

They pointed to various issues, including turning five forced fumbles into just one turnover, a lackluster running game <\/a>and a failure to play at their best in the latter part of the loss.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we\u2019re gonna have to really make a conscious effort this week to really step up the intensity in the later part of practice, when it\u2019s getting a little tired,\u2019\u2019 Phillips said Monday. \u201cI think this week, we\u2019ll try to make an emphasis of \u2018Let\u2019s keep our foot on the pedal the entirety of these practices and make sure we finish strong.\u2019 \u201d<\/p>\n

That didn\u2019t happen against Green Bay<\/a>, as the Packers scored the final 13 points of the game.<\/p>\n

The Jets were left to wonder how they didn\u2019t get more turnovers despite the five forced fumbles.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s tough,\u2019\u2019 Phillips said. \u201cGuys were running to the football every time it was out. I hope that was our unfair share of not coming up with them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s making sure we take advantage of opportunities,\u201d Glenn said. \u201cGet the ball in positive territory and we have to be able to score.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cWe preach takeaways,\u2019\u2019 safety Dane Belton said. \u201cWhen you get the ball out five times, that\u2019s great. You want more than one [recovery].\u201d<\/p>\n

But Glenn is confident if they continue \u201cattacking the football [and] punching the football out, I do know this: Those things are gonna come around. We want guys to continue to do that because you want that to be a part of your DNA when it comes to defensive football.\u201d<\/p>\n

With Minkah Fitzpatrick out, Belton and Andre Cisco were forced into more action at safety, and they held up fine against Green Bay\u2019s high-powered passing attack.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

They each had four solo tackles, and the Packers and Jordan Love didn\u2019t have much success passing downfield.<\/p>\n

Belton said they were able to pick Fitzpatrick\u2019s brain while preparing for the game.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was helpful,\u2019\u2019 Belton said. \u201cI felt we did a good job. We didn\u2019t get the job done [as a team], but losing a playmaker like that, we did do a good job.\u201d<\/p>\n

For a second straight week to start the season, Garrett Wilson was targeted just seven times by Geno Smith. He finished Sunday with five receptions, 57 yards and a touchdown, but wasn\u2019t much of a factor late as the offense stalled in the fourth quarter and overtime.<\/p>\n

Glenn said the Jets \u201cabsolutely\u201d have to do a better job of getting their star wide receiver more involved.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat is a point of emphasis every time we go out, to make sure we get him the ball,\u2019\u2019 Glenn said. \u201cAnd we have to continue to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n
