Purdy’s completion percentage might have dropped to 55.6 percent in Week 3 but his average depth of target was 11.0 yards per attempt, and his four passing touchdowns gave him a 133.8 rating.

Purdy was kept clean on 21 of his drop-backs, helping him complete 14 of his 19 attempts for 271 yards and four touchdowns. The signal-caller also was productive against the blitz, completing five of his seven attempts for 157 yards and two touchdowns.

Unlike in Week 1, when Purdy utilized the short-passing game behind the line of scrimmage, the offense spread the ball around the field against the Cardinals. Purdy only made one attempt (incomplete) behind the line of scrimmage and completed 10 of his 13 attempts from zero-to-nine yards downfield.

Purdy was more challenged from 10-to-19 yards downfield with only four completions on eight attempts and only connected on one pass (three attempts) of more than 20 yards or more.

One reason Purdy averaged 3.02 seconds to throw the ball, was the protection of the offensive line that has yet to allow a sack through the first three games of the season. The group only allowed five pressures, with a sixth charged to running back Christian McCaffrey.

LT Trent Williams – one hit, one hurry

LG Connor Colby – one hit, one hurry

RG Dominick Puni – one hurry

RB Christian McCaffrey – one hit

Here are more highlights from the 49ers’ Week 3 PFF grades:

TE George Kittle – 84.2

On his bobblehead day, the tight end was on the field for 46 plays, catching six of his seven targets for 82 yards and two touchdowns, with 28 yards coming after the catch. All of Kittle’s receptions resulted in a first down or touchdown, and two catches were contested.

WR Jordan Watkins – 86.3

After missing the first two games as a healthy scratch, the second-year receiver had an exceptional performance, catching both of his targets for 60 yards, 20 of which came after catch.

The defense was on the field for an exorbitant 87 snaps, which did have an impact on the group’s productivity, but there still were standout performances. The defensive line that included two players making their NFL debuts, as well as rookie Gracen Halton, racked up 14 pressures on Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett.

14 total pressures:

Keion White – one sack, two hurries

Ogbo Okoronkwo – one sack, one hurry

Khalid Kareem – two hurries

Osa Odighizuwa – two hurries

Kevin Givens – one hit, one hurry

Viliami Fehoko Jr. – one hurry

Dre Greenlaw – one hurry

Fred Warner – one hit

Defensive line snap count:

Osa Odighizuwa – 71

Keion White – 60

Khalid Kareem – 54

Ogbo Okoronkwo – 48

Sebastian Valdez – 32

Gracen Halton – 30

Kevin Givens – 21

Naquan Jones – 18

Viliami Fehoko – 13

LB Dre Greenlaw – 85.9

The linebacker received the highest grade on the defense after playing 61 snaps, registering eight total tackles, four solo, but it was his coverage that raised his grade.
