The Dallas Cowboys’ draft capital took a hit after the team acquired cornerback Joey Porter Jr. in a trade<\/a> with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The Cowboys now own four picks in the 2027 NFL draft:<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Steelers added to their 2027 draft selections with the swap:<\/p>\n

Pittsburgh also received a conditional sixth-round draft choice in the Porter trade, which will convey if he’s on Dallas’ active gameday roster for at least two contests.<\/p>\n

Porter has yet to appear in a game this season, dealing with a back issue<\/a> while also searching<\/a> for a new contract.<\/p>\n

According to Clarence Hill Jr.<\/a> of DLLS Sports, there wasn’t a new deal in place between Porter and the Cowboys as the trade was completed. He could be able to play against the Houston Texans on Sunday, though.<\/p>\n

Porter previously appeared in 14 games for the Steelers during the 2025 season, finishing with 52 tackles, 14 passes defended and one interception. He allowed a mere 57.2 passer rating when targeted (via Pro Football Reference<\/a>).<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old will look to provide a boost to a Cowboys secondary that is dealing with several injuries<\/a> to players including Malik Hooker, Shavon Revel Jr. and Cobie Durant.<\/p>\n

Dallas has allowed 27.3 points per game through three weeks, ranking<\/a> No. 25 among all teams.<\/p>\n
