{"id":1025811,"date":"2026-10-12T20:24:19","date_gmt":"2026-10-12T20:24:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/1025811\/"},"modified":"2026-10-12T20:24:19","modified_gmt":"2026-10-12T20:24:19","slug":"patriots-gets-positive-aj-brown-injury-update-before-jets-matchup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/1025811\/","title":{"rendered":"Patriots gets positive AJ Brown injury update before Jets matchup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Star receiver AJ Brown might be on the field against the Jets next weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Savageboston\/status\/2109669839144988870\" rel=\"nofollow\">said Monday<\/a> that \u201cthere\u2019s a chance\u201d Brown makes his return for the AFC East divisional contest next Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>New England\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/10\/11\/sports\/raiders-flaws-laid-to-bare-in-blowout-loss-against-patriots\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">45-17 win over the Raiders<\/a> on Sunday was the fourth game Brown has missed since he <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/09\/10\/sports\/a-j-brown-injury-update-is-not-great-news-for-patriots\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">suffered a high-ankle sprain<\/a> after being twisted on a tackle in the season-opening loss to the Seahawks.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49707602;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"   data-modal-image=\"41295111\" width=\"883\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/GettyImages-2294428336.jpg\" alt=\"New England Patriots wide receiver Antonio Gibson walks off the field with staff members during a game against the Seattle Seahawks.\" class=\"wp-image-41295111\"\/>New England Patriots wide receiver A.J. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>He was then <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/09\/11\/sports\/patriots-expected-to-put-a-j-brown-on-ir-in-early-season-injury-crusher\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">placed on injured reserve<\/a>, but is eligible to come off it this week, though Vrabel was non-committal over whether Brown would definitely appear in the home contest with the Jets.<\/p>\n<p>The Patriots initially struggled on offense without Brown, but have seemingly begun turning the ship around during the last two weeks with wins against the Bills and Raiders.<\/p>\n<p>During his appearance on WEEI Monday, Vrabel had a similar sentiment on when Brown might return.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"   data-modal-image=\"41295126\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/GettyImages-2294808418.jpg\" alt=\"A New England Patriots football player wearing the number 1 uniform and helmet on the field.\" class=\"wp-image-41295126\"\/>New England Patriots wide receiver A.J. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hope that he\u2019s going to help us,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/sports.yahoo.com\/articles\/patriots-injury-mike-vrabel-latest-163327568.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Vrabel said<\/a>. \u201cBut that remains to be seen yet when he\u2019ll be back. So, we\u2019ll see how he does today and move from there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, it was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsports.com\/fantasy\/football\/player-news\/2026-10-12\/vrabel-a-chance-a-j-brown-practices-this-week\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reported<\/a> that Brown, who was acquired in a blockbuster offseason trade with the Eagles, was in the Patriots\u2019 locker room walking without a limp.<\/p>\n<p>Brown had at least 1,000 yards receiving in six of his first seven seasons in the NFL \u2014 split between the Titans and Eagles. Brown had three catches for 26 yards for the Patriots before the injury. <\/p>\n<p>Last week, NFL Network\u2019s Mike Garafolo reported that \u201cthe hope is\u201d Brown will return in Week 6. The team has yet to open Brown\u2019s return window, though. <\/p>\n<p>If Brown were to return this week, it would come at a convenient time, as fellow receiver <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patriots.com\/news\/roster-analysis-patriots-place-mack-hollins-and-reggie-gilliam-on-injured-reserve-in-a-flurry-of-roster-moves-ahead-of-sunday-s-game-vs-the-raiders\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mack Hollins<\/a> was placed on injured reserve with a calf strain last week. <\/p>\n<p>Hollins will miss at least three more games before he is eligible to return.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Star receiver AJ Brown might be on the field against the Jets next weekend.
