Only a few undrafted rookies received more guaranteed money following the 2025 NFL draft than Indianapolis Colts’<\/a> cornerback Johnathan Edwards did.<\/p>\n According to Sportrac<\/a>, Edwards received $280,000 guaranteed, which among all UDFAs league-wide was the sixth-most. The five players ahead of Edwards all earned $300,000 guaranteed.<\/p>\n Landing Edwards was clearly a priority for the GM Chris Ballard and the Colts<\/a>. Edwards, who is listed at 6-01 and weighs 201 pounds, spent three seasons at Indiana State before transferring to Tulane for the 2024 season.<\/p>\n At the FBS level, Edwards allowed a completion rate of just 54% and only 8.6 yards per catch on 26 targets,\u00a0according to PFF<\/a>. The majority of his snaps came at outside cornerback, but he has some box and nickel experience as well.<\/p>\n Edwards also brings high-end speed to the Colts’ cornerback room, running a 4.42-second 40 during the pre-draft process.<\/p>\n “Head coach Jon Sumrall reported that Edwards is one of the fastest players on the team, if not the fastest,” wrote\u00a0Maddy Hudak of Tulane on SI<\/a>. “Edwards had several standout moments chasing down explosive plays to save touchdowns last season.”<\/p>\n
