The Minnesota Vikings<\/a> are 5-0 as they are in the middle of their bye week, and while there are already conversations about which teams are Super Bowl contenders, they are getting overlooked. <\/p>\n Minnesota has arguably the best defense in the NFL<\/a>, as they have only given up over 20 points once in their five games. Nonetheless, there\u2019s doubt surrounding the Vikings as a true contender due to their offense. <\/p>\n Murray and the offense showed signs of progress with their performance in Week 5 against the New Orleans Saints<\/a>. Nonetheless, Kyle Brandt of ESPN is one of the analysts who isn\u2019t buying the Vikings as contenders due to their reliance on Murray as their starter. <\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t know if he has that gear in him and you\u2019re going to get to the playoffs, and good for you, you went 12-5, whatever they\u2019re going to go,\u201d Brandt said on the Oct. 14 edition of \u201cFirst Take.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cSan Francisco\u2019s there. Dogs are there. Veterans are there. I don\u2019t know if Kyler Murray is that guy in a January playoff game who\u2019s like, \u2018I got us. We\u2019re down four with two minutes left. I got this.\u2019 I just don\u2019t think he\u2019s that guy, and I can\u2019t trust the team when he\u2019s not.\u201d<\/p>\n Kyler Murray Doesn\u2019t Have a Track Record In the Playoffs<\/p>\n Moreover, Brandt noted why he doesn\u2019t believe that Murray can be that guy for the Vikings when they need their QB to lead them down the field when the defense is having an off night. <\/p>\n \u201cI also find it very funny that there are a lot of people who are all in on the Vikings who I think have short, selective memories about Kyler Murray,\u201d Brandt noted. \u201cThere may have been some of them at this table, but the fact is, he has never been a guy in a big-time game. Never. We\u2019ve never seen it. One playoff game ever. I don\u2019t think he was on this planet for that playoff game. It\u2019s one of the strangest performances I\u2019ve ever seen. <\/p>\n \u201cYou can run up a good record. You can ride a defense. What I want to see is one day Brian Flores is off his game. He\u2019s not calling a good game. The pressure\u2019s not working. The defense just doesn\u2019t have it, and the Vikings defense is lit up. And Kyler Murray, just give me one week where you say, \u2018I got us. I\u2019m captain now. I\u2019ll get us 36 points.’\u201d<\/p>\n Kyler Murray Gets Outlook on His Vikings Future<\/p>\n Meanwhile, former Vikings wideout Cris Carter shared that what could determine Murray\u2019s long-term future in Minnesota will be the money he\u2019ll want in free agency in the offseason.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t think there\u2019s a certain number,\u201d Carter said on the Oct. 12 edition of \u201cUp & Adams.\u201d<\/a> \u201cI think because of what they\u2019re trying to do, Jordan Addison\u2019s up for a new contract, how much they\u2019re paying JJ, and some other offensive players. I think if they can get Kyler, if everything works out this season at the right number, yes, he can be the guy. <\/p>\n \u201cBut ultimately, if you don\u2019t know who your quarterback\u2019s going to be, you\u2019re not where you want to be in the NFL. You either want to be in the top eight teams of the NFL or in the bottom four teams. You don\u2019t want to be in the middle part.
