And we’re doing a great thing. I’m excited for this next week coming up and coming off the bye ready to roll.”

Sieler has been with the Dolphins since he was claimed off waivers late in the 2019 season. He watched that rebuild grow under former coach Brian Flores, then went through the past four seasons of the all-in window under Mike McDaniel and is currently the Miami player with the longest active tenure on the team under the new regime of general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and coach Jeff Hafley.

A move to a contender could be appealing to some players who are 31 on a winless team, but Sieler took the firm stance that he’d prefer to remain with the Dolphins.

“I love it here,” he said. “I want to win here as a Dolphin. I think Hafley, Sully have done an amazing job here. I’m excited to see this team growing and where we’re going and get some wins.”

It’s believable when Sieler said he hasn’t been thinking much about trade possibilities in the coming weeks. He said he spent his bye week in a rural area of Missouri in the woods with no phone service, just peace and quiet.

The return for Sieler, if he were traded, would probably be a Day 3 draft pick. He could be a desirable addition to a contender who needs defensive line help as he carries a $1.3 million base salary this season. He is also effectively guaranteed $12.665 million next year, which could present decent value for a team to get 1 1/2 seasons of Sieler at a nudge over $13 million by midseason.

Jackson has struggled in pass protection at times this season against some of the league’s best pass rushers, but his base salary of $1.215 million as a 27-year-old offensive tackle could entice a team dealing with an injury on the end of its offensive line. He’s a pending free agent, so it would essentially be a rental for the stretch run for a team to bring him in before his free agency.

Jackson, drafted in the first round in 2020, is the second-longest-tenured Dolphins player on this young roster behind Sieler.

Sullivan will have key decisions to make in the coming weeks, as he has veteran holdovers from the previous regime who are good culture-setters in the locker room but the idea of adding draft picks toward the future could prove more valuable if the current group continues to lose in the coming weeks.

Players, though, came back from the bye week feeling “new energy,” as linebacker Jordyn Brooks put it.

That energy was evident in a moment during Hafley’s press conference where he remained steadfast on the process of building a winner he sees now, even at 0-5.

“I really like this team,” Hafley said, “and I know that, at 0-5, everybody could look at me like I’m crazy. But the energy that this team has, the connection that this group has, the youth, it’s almost like a fun youth to be around. They really love playing football. They really love playing with each other.

“Having the time to reflect, it’s me reflecting on the people that we’ve brought in here. It’s me reflecting on everything that these guys have put in and will continue to. It’s me looking at the foundation that’s being set for this team, and we all want to win. I want to win more than you guys have any idea. A lot of people need to see before they believe. I believe. I believe in this team before maybe most people can see it. But what we’re doing right now, we’re going to look back on and it’s going to be awesome.”

The Dolphins are one of two winless teams remaining after the Week 6 slate of NFL games. The Tennessee Titans had their first win Sunday, so that meant Miami and the Los Angeles Chargers (0-6) are the two without a win. The Dolphins, if the season ended at this point, would pick second since the Chargers have a weaker strength of schedule.

Miami visits the New York (2-4) Jets on Sunday and then returns home to face the Detroit Lions and New England Patriots before the trade deadline.

MIAMI GARDENS — The NFL trade deadline is three weeks away, and Miami Dolphins players are sure to…

[2049
10084,217,7,216,251,2087,6,24182,23816
post-1032026","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-miami-dolphins","tag-austin-jackson","tag-dolphins","tag-football","tag-miami","tag-miami-dolphins","tag-miamidolphins","tag-nfl","tag-nfl-trade-deadline","tag-zach-sieler
["GET
