Brian Thomas Jr<\/a>.\u00a0remains in place with the Jaguars for now. The third-year receiver continues to occupy a small role on offense, however, and a trade is once again something to watch for<\/a> in his case.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>An increase in trade calls is expected over the coming days, ESPN\u2019s Adam Schefter and NFL Network\u2019s Ian Rapoport report<\/a>. The November 10 deadline is approaching, and activity on the trade front is of course likely to pick up around the league. Thomas was mentioned as a candidate to be moved last year, but Jacksonville wound up retaining the former first-rounder.<\/p>\n

Things could change this time around. According to Schefter\u2019s colleague Jeremy Fowler<\/a>, multiple NFL executives feel the Jaguars will \u201cseriously consider\u201d a Thomas trade at this time. Across the past two games, Thomas has been held without a catch while being targeted a total of five times. Jacksonville\u2019s passing game continues to be focused on fellow wideouts Parker Washington<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Jakobi Meyers<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Washington is a pending free agent, and previous extension efforts have failed to produce a deal. Dealing away Thomas \u2013 whose rookie contract runs through 2027 but could include a fifth-year option for the following season \u2013 and losing Washington this spring would deal a notable blow to the Jags\u2019 offense. If Washington agrees to a long-term pact (or is at least viewed by the team as a franchise tag candidate), though, accepting a Thomas trade could increasingly become viable.<\/p>\n

The LSU product racked up 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns as a rookie, but the arrival of\u00a0Liam Coen\u00a0and a new coaching staff resulted in a notable downturn in production last season. While Thomas was still a full-time starter in 2025, his snap share for the current campaign sits at just 43%. That comfortably outpaces the offensive workload for\u00a0Travis Hunter<\/a>, although Thomas being traded could open up more WR looks for last year\u2019s No. 2 pick.<\/p>\n

SNY\u2019s Connor Hughes reports<\/a> the Jaguars were prepared to move forward with a Thomas trade during this past offseason. Offers were not strong enough at that point for a swap to be worked out. With a rebound in playing time under Coen seeming unlikely, it will be interesting to see if a new wave of calls from suitors results in a change of scenery over the coming days.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Brian Thomas Jr.\u00a0remains in place with the Jaguars for now.
