The Indianapolis Colts should consider signing free agent Von Miller. Earlier this offseason, the Buffalo Bills released<\/a> the veteran linebacker. The move saved Buffalo $8.4 million in salary cap space.<\/p>\n

Miller has has no plans of retiring in 2025. The 36-year old said he has plenty to offer and wants to continue sacking quarterbacks.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m a locker-room guy through and through, and I can still roll out of the bed and rush the passer,\u201d Miller said, via The Associated Press<\/a>. \u201cThat\u2019s what I got.\u201d<\/p>\n

Von Miller would be a great addition to any team. Will he end up in Indianapolis?<\/p>\n

\nLooking Back at His Career<\/p>\n

The Denver Broncos<\/a> selected Von Miller second overall in the 2011 NFL Draft. He became the highest drafted linebacker since LaVar Arrington went No. 2 in 2000.<\/p>\n

Miller had an immediate impact with the Broncos. He forced a fumble against the Oakland Raiders<\/a> on the first play of his career from scrimmage. He went on to have a stellar debut season, recording 11.5 sacks and 19 quarterback hits. As a result, he was selected to the Pro Bowl and was named Defensive Rookie of the Year.<\/p>\n

During the 2015 season, Miller became the third-fastest player in NFL history to reach 50 career sacks. Also that season, he helped the Broncos win Super Bowl 50 over the Carolina Panthers<\/a>. Miller won MVP of the game after recording six tackles, 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and two quarterback hurries.<\/p>\n

Miller was traded to the Los Angeles Rams<\/a> in 2021. He won his second Super Bowl ring that year. He then signed with the Bills in 2022. Miller tore his ACL during his first year in Buffalo and returned the following season. Miller had 17 tackles and six sacks in 2024.<\/p>\n

Why the Colts Should Sign Him<\/p>\n

Perhaps tight end and linebacker were the Colts\u2019 biggest needs heading into this year\u2018s NFL draft. The team addressed the tight end position by drafting Penn State\u2019s Tyler Warren 14th overall. However, they didn\u2019t upgrade the linebacker spot much.<\/p>\n

Zaire Franklin<\/a> and Jaylon Carlies are expected to start at the position for Indy in 2025. Franklin is coming off a Pro Bowl season, leading the league in tackles. Meanwhile, Carlies was impressive in limited action last season. It remains to be seen, though, if he take it a step further in 2025.<\/p>\n

Von Miller would be a good pickup for the Colts. No, he\u2019s not young anymore and he isn\u2019t the dominant player that he used to be. But he\u2019s a seven-time All-Pro who has won two Super Bowls and a Super Bowl MVP. With that said, Miller would bring a winning attitude to the Colts\u2019 locker room and could help Indy\u2019s younger defenders. He could work as a pass rush specialist, giving the team another option to get pressure on opposing quarterbacks in obvious passing situations.<\/p>\n

The Colts have done an amazing job retooling their defense. After hiring<\/a> defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo, the team has added guys like Charvarius Ward, Camryn Bynum, and J.T. Tuimoloau this offseason. Maybe Von Miller will be next.<\/p>\n
