The NFL trade deadline arrives Nov. 10, and Kansas City is without its top wide receiver, Tyquan Thornton, who landed on injured reserve with a dislocated ankle.

Rashee Rice has missed the last two games with a hamstring injury. He could return as early as Week 8 against the Denver Broncos. Even so, the Chiefs clearly lack the pass-catching wide receiver talent they need to compete at the highest level. That became obvious when they ran into the buzzsaw that is the Seattle Seahawks defense in Week 7.

The truth is, Kansas City has needed to invest at wide receiver for a long time. The Chiefs have cycled through retreads ever since trading Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins back in 2022, and it has been far too long since they’ve had a top dog in that room.

Simplifying the offense for the current receivers would help. However, a trade looks like the best option to improve the position for the rest of the 2026 NFL season and possibly beyond. With that in mind, we used the A to Z Sports NFL Trade Simulator to map out 10 wide receiver trades Brett Veach could make.

Browns WR Jerry Jeudy

Jeudy is a strong option because Chiefs wide receivers coach Chad O’Shea coached him to his best NFL season. In 2024, Jeudy caught 90 passes on 145 targets for 1,229 yards and four touchdowns. It was his lone 1,000-yard season, though he came close in Denver in 2022.

A to Z Sports Browns expert Brandon Little told us a few weeks ago that a Day 3 pick seemed like the bare minimum.

The Browns traded fifth- and sixth-round picks to the Denver Broncos in 2024 for Jeudy, and Cleveland got good value with his Pro Bowl season that year. Cleveland is now in a spot where Jeudy has become expendable, with KC Concepcion, Denzel Boston, and tight end Harold Fannin Jr. ahead of him in terms of pass catchers. It’s worth noting that the Browns don’t have to trade Jeudy, but if the deadline approaches and they’re not in a good spot for a playoff run, it’s a move they should make. Jeudy’s $13.4 million cap number in 2027 is very affordable, and this isn’t a player the Browns need to move right now unless the value is there. I don’t believe Jeudy has completely fallen off despite having just eight catches for 81 yards this season. He showed his value in a win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 4 with clutch catches in the fourth quarter. Therefore, the Browns at least need a fourth-round pick for the former Pro Bowler, who still has some juice left in the tank at 27 years old. I keep coming back to a 2028 third-round pick or a 2027 fourth-round pick as the necessary value to trade Jeudy. Anything less than that, and the Browns should just hold onto him as depth. The fact that the Browns are in a position where they don’t have to trade Jeudy helps them, and I think they’d be just fine hanging onto him. It’s up to another team to bring one of those picks to the table. If that happens, it’s a decision the Browns will have to make.

Brandon little

A to Z Sports Cleveland Browns

Jeudy has gained value with strong play since, so the Chiefs might need to sweeten the pot. A swap of sixth-round picks, with Cleveland netting an extra 2027 pick and Kansas City getting an extra 2028 sixth, is likely what it would take.

Commanders WR Stefon Diggs

The Chiefs might regret not signing Diggs as a free agent this offseason. He started all 17 games for the New England Patriots in 2025, recording 85 receptions on 102 targets for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns. With the Washington Commanders, he has 24 catches for 214 yards (8.9 yards per reception) and four touchdowns.

Kansas City might need to include a player Washington could extend. I considered S Chamarri Conner, given the Chiefs’ logjam at safety. Sending Conner and a Day 3 pick for Diggs and a future seventh might seem steep, but it’s a small price if it helps the Chiefs beat man coverage and reach the postseason. Yes, Diggs is 32, but a productive veteran could also help jumpstart the rest of the room.

Colts WR Josh Downs

After the Colts sent Quenton Nelson to Seattle this week, the Indianapolis fire sale appears to have begun. We first floated this trade after Indianapolis fired GM Chris Ballard. Downs is now worth 225 points in our system, while the Chiefs’ 2027 fourth-round pick is worth 237. That remains a fair deal, and one Kansas City should explore quickly.

Cowboys WR George Pickens

Pickens is by far the most valuable receiver we’ll discuss, largely because he’s on the franchise tag at an astronomical salary. It would likely cost second- and third-round picks to get close to fair value, and even then, the trade would still lean Chiefs. Kansas City would also need to create more than $13 million in cap space through a restructure, a release, or a trade.

That doesn’t seem realistic, and Pickens’ value here is an outlier in our system. I don’t think the Chiefs would send that much. I also don’t think they’ll value Pickens highly. The Chiefs traded back and took Skyy Moore over Pickens in the 2022 draft, and questions remain about his maturity and locker-room fit as a long-term investment.

Eagles WR Dontayvion Wicks

I tend to think Wicks is just a guy, and the simulator values him that way. He has 19 catches on 32 targets for 284 yards and one touchdown, averaging 14.9 yards per reception. He has averaged more than 10 yards per catch in each of the past three seasons. Advanced analytics also rank him among the league’s top man-coverage separators. At 6-foot-1 and 206 pounds, he resembles Thornton in size, speed, and role. The real question is whether the Chiefs see him as part of their future and as a player who can be more than he has been so far in his career.

Eagles WR Hollywood Brown

It’s hard to call Brown an upgrade after his time in Kansas City. However, he knows the system and could play against the Broncos without missing a beat. The cost roughly matches the Wicks deal, a 2027 fifth-round pick. It’s unexciting, but a half-season rental might make the most sense. A conditional pick could help the compensation line up.

Jaguars WR Brian Thomas Jr.

The Jaguars insist they aren’t trading Thomas, yet his lack of involvement suggests otherwise. He’s worth about 559 points, and the Chiefs lack a pick at that exact value, so Jacksonville would likely add a future pick. Kansas City must decide whether this is simply a bad fit or something more, like health or football-savvy issues. If the Chiefs believe they can restore his rookie production, he’s a sensible long-term asset.

Jets WR Garrett Wilson

This is the splashiest option and the only one requiring first-round value. New York already owns two 2027 first-round picks and might prefer stacking capital to land its future franchise quarterback. The Jets would likely send back a 2028 fourth-round pick to reach fair value.

Wilson produced 1,000-yard seasons with subpar quarterback play in New York during his first three seasons. Injury shortened his 2025 NFL season, but he’s returned to solid production this year. It’s exciting to think about what he could achieve in Kansas City.

Saints WR DeVaughn Vele

Vele has contributed in New Orleans since his trade from Denver, but perhaps not as much as the Saints had hoped. He’s worth 152 points, and the Chiefs’ closest match is a sixth-round pick via Atlanta worth 141 points. The finances work, though I’m not sure he moves the needle. Still, Kansas City could make far worse moves.

Titans WR Calvin Ridley

Ridley is the least valuable target at 112 points. The 31-year-old has two years left on his deal, which would put the Chiefs about $400,000 over the cap. Even their 2028 fifth-round pick would lean Titans. A player swap makes more sense. Chamarri Conner carries 114 points, and Tennessee has a thing for Chiefs defensive backs after signing Joshua Williams and Nazeeh Johnson, with former Chiefs executive Mike Borgonzi as GM.

The Chiefs have until Nov. 10 to decide their direction. The receiver room needs a move, but whether or not Brett Veach pulls the trigger remains to be seen.

Kansas City Chiefs News

Kansas City Chiefs have in-house option to explore as Harrison Butker’s kicking issues intensify in Week 7 loss to Seahawks

The Kansas City Chiefs watched K Harrison Butker miss two more field goals against the Seattle Seahawks on “Sunday Night Football.” His misses since the start of last season now lead the entire NFL.

Home / NFL / Kansas City Chiefs The Kansas City Chiefs are calling around about wide receiver help…

[2063
265,4220,4133,4048,39396,346,3992,7,2310,467,6670,2827,1509,118,110,2438,2437,6,4000,531,24175,1089
post-1038844","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-kansas-city-chiefs","tag-american-football","tag-brett-veach","tag-brian-thomas-jr","tag-calvin-ridley","tag-chad-oshea","tag-chiefs","tag-dontayvion-wicks","tag-football","tag-garrett-wilson","tag-george-pickens","tag-hollywood-brown","tag-jerry-jeudy","tag-josh-downs","tag-kansas-city","tag-kansas-city-chiefs","tag-kansascity","tag-kansascitychiefs","tag-nfl","tag-rashee-rice","tag-stefon-diggs","tag-tyquan-thornton","tag-tyreek-hill
["GET
