Jonathan Taylor Trade Pitch Has Seahawks Secure Missing Piece To their puzzle<\/p>\n
The Indianapolis Colts<\/a> might feel just a bit like they\u2019re walking a tight rope.<\/p>\n Jonathan Taylor<\/a> is heavily involved in trade rumors, but the Colts also want to play Taylor. That\u2019s their plan for Week 9 against the Dallas Cowboys<\/a>.<\/p>\n The NFL<\/a> trade deadline is on Tuesday, Nov. 10 \u2014 just two days after the Colts play the Cowboys \u2014 so there\u2019s certainly risk in playing anyone they\u2019re considering trading.<\/p>\n Maybe the reverse thinking is that by playing these guys, the Colts remain whatever bit of leverage they might still have.<\/p>\n Regardless, it\u2019s a big question heading into Week 9 \u2014 will the Colts do anything different with Jonathan Taylor this week than last?<\/p>\n It doesn\u2019t appear that way.<\/p>\n Is Jonathan Taylor Playing This Week?<\/p>\n Yes, Taylor is slated to play in Week 9 as he usually does.<\/p>\n ESPN\u2019s Stephen Holder<\/a> wrote this on Wednesday:<\/p>\n \u201cIndianapolis Colts star running back Jonathan Taylor will continue to play his usual role despite being at the center of trade talks with multiple teams, coach Shane Steichen said Tuesday.\u201d<\/p>\n Taylor played 38 snaps and had eight carries in the 42-7 loss to the Jaguars<\/a> on Sunday, which isn\u2019t a great indication of what he might\u2019ve done in a game that was less of a blowout.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of stuff out there right now,\u201d Steichen said, via ESPN. \u201cHe\u2019s on our football team and he\u2019s excited for this opportunity to go play. He wants to go win this game.\u201d<\/p>\n Holder also clarified that Josh Downs<\/a> is expecting to be on the field, too, when the Colts take on the Cowboys.<\/p>\n \u201cDuring this time of year, people are going to call,\u201d Steichen said. \u201cThat\u2019s just part of the business. But, again, you\u2019ve got to be a professional and show up to work.\u201d<\/p>\n Why Colts Are Playing Jonathan Taylor<\/p>\n Holder provided some further insight on X (formerly Twitter) when fans wondered why the Colts would make this decision.<\/p>\n This was the main point Holder had to make:<\/p>\n I\u2019m not sure what\u2019s the best way to play this, but if you\u2019re trying to send the message that you\u2019re willing to keep him (which the Colts seem to be), then you can\u2019t sit him.
