After coming up just one win short of the big game last year, the Bills are hoping to make the final step towards a championship.

With that in mind, the team could still use some help in a few key areas. One of those areas comes at the safety position.

As of right now, Buffalo has Taylor Rapp and Damar Hamlin penciled in as the starters in the secondary. He thinks Justin Simmons could be an ideal fit for the Bills.

“Pro Bowl safety Justin Simmons is still available, and he named the Bills as one of the teams he would be interested in joining,” Austin wrote. “With multiple picks in all nine of his NFL seasons and 32 career interceptions, the veteran has been a playmaker at safety since getting to the league. He’s 31 now and no longer elite at the position, but his skill set and experience could be invaluable for a team with championship aspirations.”

Austin continued on, revealing his belief that Buffalo needs to go all-in on its Super Bowl window while it’s still open. He thinks Simmons would be that kind of move for the Bills.

“The Super Bowl window doesn’t last forever, and while Simmons may not be the player he once was, he could provide a much-needed boost to a defense that finished 26th in the NFL in pass defense success rate (51.9%).”

Read more: Former NFL QB Suggests Shocking Trade Idea for Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill

During the 2024 NFL season with the Atlanta Falcons, Simmons played in 16 games. He racked up 62 total tackles to go along with two interceptions and seven defended passes.

Those numbers were solid, but not elite. He’s a sure tackler and can make plays and force turnovers with interceptions. Simmons may not be the star that he once was, but he could still be a very good addition for a Buffalo secondary that could use another playmaker.

Of course, this is just a suggestion, and the Bills may not have any interest in Simmons. But it’s a move that would make sense for both parties.

For more Buffalo Bills and NFL news, head over to Newsweek Sports.

The Buffalo Bills are, without question, one of the top Super Bowl contenders heading into the upcoming 2025…

[2048
215,214,53,2086,7,6559,6
0":"post-107644","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-buffalo-bills","8":"tag-bills","9":"tag-buffalo","10":"tag-buffalo-bills","11":"tag-buffalobills","12":"tag-football","13":"tag-justin-simmons","14":"tag-nfl
["GET
