The Florida Gators<\/a> have produced another NFL talent. Cornerback Jason Marshall Jr.<\/a> has been drafted by the Miami Dolphins<\/a> in the fifth round (pick No. 150) of the 2025 NFL draft.<\/p>\n

Marshall, a cornerback out of Miami Palmetto High School, entered Florida as a five-star recruit and delivered on that promise. Over four seasons with the Orange and Blue, he appeared in 45 games with 39 starts, racking up 101 tackles, 22 pass breakups, two interceptions and six tackles for loss.<\/p>\n

Before a season-ending injury cut his senior year short, Marshall started the first seven games for the Gators, recording 20 tackles, four pass breakups, a forced fumble and three quarterback hurries. He earned a 71.2 season grade from Pro Football Focus (PFF)<\/a>, showcasing strong coverage skills and run support.<\/p>\n

Marshall’s strengths have always set him apart in a loaded SEC. A physical, press-man specialist, he consistently used his size and fluidity to match up against some of the nation’s top receivers. His high football IQ allowed him to read quarterbacks and routes quickly, rarely getting caught out of position.<\/p>\n

With four years of starting experience in Gainesville, Marshall showed that he could handle elite competition week after week. He also brought versatility to the field, contributing not only in pass coverage, but also against the run and on occasional blitzes, adding another layer to his defensive impact.<\/p>\n

Marshall led the Gators in pass breakups during both the 2022 and 2023 seasons. He recorded his first career interception against the in-state rival Florida State Seminoles<\/a> in 2021.<\/p>\n

By selecting Marshall, the Dolphins<\/a> add a proven SEC defender who has the tools to develop into a starting outside cornerback or a high-level rotational player early in his NFL career.<\/p>\n
