Who is the best quarterback in the Palmetto State \u2013 Clemson\u2019s Cade Klubnik, or South Carolina\u2019s LaNorris Sellers?<\/p>\n
Klubnik was asked that very question when he spoke with reporters at a recent event in Orlando, Fla.<\/p>\n
Klubnik laughed, then had a clever response to the question.<\/p>\n
\u00a0\u201cThey got a pretty good quarterback at Furman,\u201d Klubnik said. \u201cSo, I\u2019m gonna go with my guy there.\u201d<\/p>\n
On a more serious note, Klubnik discussed the fact that he\u2019s entering his third season under Clemson offensive coordinator Garrett Riley, and how important it has been for him to have that continuity with Riley and his system.<\/p>\n
Klubnik also gave Clemson major credit for his development and helping him go from someone who experienced his share of struggles two seasons ago, to now a QB that is coming off a breakout 2024 campaign and widely considered a 2025 Heisman Trophy candidate\/2026 first-round NFL draft pick.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m so thankful that I\u2019ve been at Clemson for four years now. \u2026 I\u2019ve loved being with Coach Riley in that system. It\u2019s been awesome,\u201d Klubnik said. \u201cAnd it\u2019s definitely been a huge blessing that Coach Swinney and Coach Riley have been there pretty much the whole time I\u2019ve been there. Coach Riley just not there my freshman year, but it\u2019s been awesome.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think that I\u2019m kind of the epitome of the word development. When I\u2019m coming out of high school, I\u2019m wanting to go win, go to a great culture, but overall, I want to leave that school better than when I got there. You want to go somewhere that you\u2019re going to get better and you\u2019re going to develop. I was good my freshman year. I wasn\u2019t very good my sophomore year, but I just stuck with it, and what Clemson has done with me is develop me. They\u2019ve gotten me better.\u201d<\/p>\n
Klubnik added that if a quarterback wants to improve his game, \u201cClemson\u2019s the place to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019re known for making players better, and I feel like I\u2019m the epitome of that, of getting better and taking a stride every year,\u201d he said. \u201cI took a stride my sophomore to junior year. Still not where I want to be, but I\u2019m hoping to take another step.\u201d<\/p>\n
