{"id":110306,"date":"2025-06-07T04:20:08","date_gmt":"2025-06-07T04:20:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/110306\/"},"modified":"2025-06-07T04:20:08","modified_gmt":"2025-06-07T04:20:08","slug":"jonathan-taylor-projected-to-get-another-big-deal-down-the-road","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/110306\/","title":{"rendered":"Jonathan Taylor projected to get another big deal down the road"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One NFL analyst is projecting that Colts&#8217; RB Jonathan Taylor gets another big contract down the road when he hits free agency.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/coltswire.usatoday.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Indianapolis Colts&#8217;<\/a> running back Jonathan Taylor still has two years left on his current contract, but could be in store for another big payday when he hits free agency in 2027.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/news\/all-paid-team-of-tomorrow-lamar-jackson-micah-parsons-poised-to-reset-market-at-respective-positions\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Anthony Holzman-Escareno of NFL.com <\/a>put together his &#8216;All-Paid Team of Tomorrow,&#8217; and at the top of the running back position group was Taylor. Holzman-Escareno projects that Taylor could earn $21 million per year on his next deal.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With the cupboard bare of running backs who are poised to legitimately challenge\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/players\/saquon-barkley\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Saquon Barkley<\/a>\u00a0for the All-Paid crown, Taylor is shunted to the top of the list,&#8221; wrote Holzman-Escareno.<\/p>\n<p>Taylor signed a three-year, $42 million extension with the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/sportsdata.usatoday.com\/football\/nfl\/teams\/indianapolis-colts\/338\" data-autotag=\"d3fda36a-3eb5-4700-8763-caba831c06ae\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Colts<\/a> back in 2023. At that time, he was still just 24 years old, and when he&#8217;s set to be a free agent again, he will still only be 28 years old at that time.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, Taylor is <a href=\"https:\/\/overthecap.com\/position\/running-back\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">averaging<\/a> $14 million per year, which heading into the 2025 season, is the fourth-highest mark in the NFL.<\/p>\n<p>Taylor appeared in just 18 total games between the 2022 and 2023 seasons, but stayed relatively healthy in 2024&#8211;missing only three games&#8211;and he was highly productive once again.
