It didn’t take the Detroit Lions long to start adding to their offensive line after center Frank Ragnow announced his retirement.<\/p>\n

Just a couple of days after the surprising retirement, the Lions picked up former Cardinals offensive lineman Trystan Colon.<\/p>\n

Colon comes with the benefit of position flexibility as he played center in college, but spent last season playing guard for the Cardinals.<\/p>\n

While that flexibility is important for a Lions squad that is unsettled across the interior of their O-line, Colon doesn’t have a ton of upside as a starter.<\/p>\n

That could lead them to continue looking for somebody who is more likely to be able to take on Ragnow’s starting role.<\/p>\n

NFL.com’s Gennaro Filice<\/a> thinks the Lions should try to trade for Los Angeles Rams center Beaux Limmer.<\/p>\n

The Rams selected Limmer in the sixth round of last year’s draft and he was unexpectedly thrust into action early in his rookie season.<\/p>\n

LA expected former Lions guard Jonah Jackson to be their starting center, but an injury in Week 2 ended up limiting him to just 4 games.<\/p>\n

Limmer took over as the starting center following Jackson\u2019s injury and ended up starting 14 games.<\/p>\n

He struggled in pass protection as a rookie, allowing 21 pressures. However, he had more success as a run blocker.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s where the Lions are really going to miss Ragnow next season, which makes Limmer a good fit for them, especially if he continues to improve this offseason.<\/p>\n

The Rams may be open to moving on from Limmer after they brought Coleman Shelton back this offseason to play center.<\/p>\n

Limmer certainly isn\u2019t a perfect answer for the Lions as they try to get their offensive line settled, but he would give them a viable option with starting experience at the position in case the team\u2019s answer at center isn\u2019t already on the roster.<\/p>\n
