With quarterback Cam Ward officially a member of the Tennessee Titans<\/a>, the organization needs to surround him with as much talent as possible.<\/p>\n

Though the Titans aren’t automatically viewed as playoff contenders now that they selected Ward with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, but the AFC South is a division that should be considered wide open. Recent seasons have also featured rookie quarterbacks elevating their teams beyond expectations.<\/p>\n

One way the Titans can help Ward grow as a quarterback during his first season is to add another weapon to the wide receiver room. With Washington Commanders<\/a> star Terry McLaurin searching for a new contract, there may be an opportunity for Tennessee to strike.<\/p>\n

In a proposed trade between the Titans and Commanders from Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox<\/a>, McLaurin would arrive in Nashville in exchange for a pair of future draft picks and wide receiver Treylon Burks.<\/p>\n

A trio of Calvin Ridley, Van Jefferson and Tyler Lockett is respectable, but Tennessee doesn’t have a true No. 1 receiver on its roster. Rookie receivers Chimere Dike and Elic Ayomanor\u2014both drafted on Day 2\u2014are totally unproven.<\/p>\n

It’s easy to see how McLaurin could fit into Tennessee’s offense and how he could help Ward during the early stages of his career. With $30.7 million in cap space, The Titans have the cap space needed to make it happen.<\/p>\n

Considering the Titans declined Burks’ fifth-year option in his rookie contract, this is very likely the final season he will be with Tennessee, barring a surprise breakout. Sending a Day 2 pick next year and a Day 3 pick in two years seems very reasonable for the production McLaurin could bring.<\/p>\n

The big question would be whether the Titans would want to match his contract demands. McLaurin will turn 30 years old at the start of the 2025 regular season, but he’s also coming off the best season of his career after posting 82 receptions for 1,092 yards and 13 touchdowns.<\/p>\n
