The Buffalo Bills have made their moves in support of QB Josh Allen … and now they watch to see if the rival\u00a0Pittsburgh Steelers<\/a>\u00a0will do the same for quarterback Aaron Rodgers<\/a>, who just signed on in the Steel City.<\/p>\n

After trading for Seattle Seahawks star receiver DK Metcalf and then dealing George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys, Pittsburgh is sort of back to where it began … needing one more wideout.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, former Bills receiver Gabe Davis visited the Steelers but left without a deal.<\/p>\n

What are we missing here? Why isn’t Gabe signed?<\/p>\n

Steelers insider Mark Kaboly set the expectation for a potential Gabe Davis signing. In short, he won\u2019t count on Davis being the late addition to the receiving corps.<\/p>\n

“I don\u2019t think it will be Gabe Davis,” Kaboly said on \u201cKaboly + Mack<\/a>.\u201d “I just got the feeling when I was there, and people were talking the other day. He just came in for a visit. A complementary visit like a mint on your pillow.”<\/p>\n

Pittsburgh could still add a receiver, of course; another Bills ex, Amari Cooper, remains unsigned.<\/p>\n

But we really saw Davis as a match with the Steelers.<\/p>\n

Davis\u2019 big-play ability could be enticing for an offense that lacks potency outside of Metcalf. Robert Woods, Roman Wilson, Scotty Miller, and Ben Skowronek are competing for boundary roles, and Davis, at his best, would add a downfield threat to that rotation.<\/p>\n

However, he was released just one season into a three-year deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars, tagged with a failed physical designation. His torn meniscus is surely complicating his free agency.<\/p>\n

“Maybe they were just trying to give him the once-over because of that knee,” Kaboly said. “I don\u2019t know how aggressive they were in trying to sign him. I think they move on from Gabe Davis. I don\u2019t think we will hear from him again.”<\/p>\n
