The Detroit Lions<\/a> finally indulged their fans, taking an edge rusher in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.<\/p>\n

The team picked Boise State defensive end Ahmed Hassanein with the No. 196 overall selection.<\/p>\n

During his four years with the Broncos<\/a>, Hassanein collected 24 sacks and 35 tackles for loss. Most of his production came in his final two seasons, when he emerged as a regular starter at the Mountain West Conference power.<\/p>\n

The 6-foot-2, 267-pound Hassanein, who grew up in Egypt, didn’t start playing competitive football until 2019 and quickly developed into a three-star college prospect who received offers from five Football Bowl Subdivision programs.<\/p>\n

Not long before Hassanein came aboard, the Lions snagged LSU guard Miles Frazier with the No. 171 overall choice in the fifth round following a trade with the New England Patriots<\/a> that allowed them to move up 11 spots.<\/p>\n

The Lions began their draft by selecting Ohio State defensive tackle Tyleik Williams in the first round<\/a>. They then bolstered their offense on Day 2 by trading up to pick Georgia guard Tate Ratledge<\/a> in the second round and Arkansas wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa in the third<\/a>.<\/p>\n
