{"id":118684,"date":"2025-06-10T12:45:11","date_gmt":"2025-06-10T12:45:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/118684\/"},"modified":"2025-06-10T12:45:11","modified_gmt":"2025-06-10T12:45:11","slug":"michael-dickson-agrees-to-seahawks-extension-resumes-title-as-nfls-highest-paid-punter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/118684\/","title":{"rendered":"Michael Dickson agrees to Seahawks extension, resumes title as NFL&#8217;s highest-paid punter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>    <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"Article-featuredImageImg\" alt=\"dickson.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/dickson.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\" height=\"433\" width=\"770\"\/><\/p>\n<p>                Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>The <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/teams\/SEA\/seattle-seahawks\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Seattle Seahawks<\/a> agreed to a multi-year contract extension with punter <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/players\/2186485\/michael-dickson\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Michael Dickson<\/a>, once again making him the highest-paid player at his position for the 2025 season. <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/MikeGarafolo\/status\/1932408057927238017\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">According to NFL Network&#8217;s Mike Garafolo<\/a>, the four-year deal is worth $16.2 million and keeps Dickson in Seattle through the 2029 season.<\/p>\n<p>Dickson regained the title of highest-paid punter in the <a href=\"https:\/\/cbssports.com\/nfl\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NFL<\/a> with the extension, less than 24 hours after the <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/teams\/JAC\/jacksonville-jaguars\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jacksonville Jaguars<\/a> announced a new four-year deal with Pro Bowler <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/players\/2139820\/logan-cooke\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Logan Cooke<\/a> that briefly made him the league&#8217;s highest-paid at the position. Cooke&#8217;s contract surpassed Dickson&#8217;s previous deal, but Seattle&#8217;s latest move quickly reset the market again.<\/p>\n<p>Dickson, a native of Australia, enters his eighth season with the Seahawks after they selected him in the fifth round of the 2018 <a href=\"https:\/\/cbssports.com\/nfl\/draft\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NFL Draft<\/a> as an All-American out of Texas. He made an immediate impact as a rookie, earning first-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors in 2018. Dickson has been a consistent special teams weapon for Seattle since, playing in every game for the franchise since.<\/p>\n<p>Over the previous seven NFL seasons, Dickson has averaged 48.2 yards per punt, including a career-best 50.0-yard average in 2020. He has downed 212 punts inside the 20-yard line, often flipping field position with directional kicks and effective hang time.<\/p>\n<p>This is the second time Dickson has reset the punter market. He previously signed a four-year, $14.5 million extension with Seattle in 2021.
