The Eagles wrapped up spring practices on Tuesday, but continue to work behind the scenes to complete the rookie contracts for the 2025 Draft Class.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, first-round pick Jihaad Campbell signed his four-year rookie contract that includes a fifth-year team option. Campbell was the 31st overall selection after the Eagles moved up one spot in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs.<\/p>\n

A native of Erial, New Jersey<\/a>, Campbell comes out of Alabama, where he played 35 games (21 starts), compiling 184 tackles and 15.5 tackles for loss.<\/p>\n

Campbell is the first off-ball linebacker to be selected in the first round by the Eagles since Jerry Robinson in 1979<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 6-3, 235-pound Campbell was a first-team All-SEC selection in 2024 after leading the team with 117 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, and five sacks.<\/p>\n

Said Assistant GM Alec Halaby: “Man, he’s a great player. I love watching him play. He’s springy, he’s explosive \u2013 there are a ton of adjectives you can use to describe him. When he’s in a pure stacked ‘backer role, he processes really well in the run game. He’s very fast to hit it. Really sure, reliable tackler. In the pass game, this is a guy who can match running backs, can match tight ends. He’s very alert and plays with very good vision.<\/p>\n

“When you ask him to rush the passer, it’s electric when he comes from off the ball<\/a>. He will blow up running backs, he will slither to the quarterback \u2013 he has a lot of different ways to get home. He can also drop out of the line of scrimmage in an overhang role if you want to create a five-down front either early or late and give teams a different presentation. And he can rush one-on-one against tackles. So, I think he is really good at all the core jobs and he can also do a lot of things that a lot of linebackers can’t do.
