Haason Reddick became one of the NFL\u2019s best pass rushers by beating his opponents to the punch. And on Wednesday, he quickly provided an explanation for his absence during the Bucs\u2019 offseason workouts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__body-float article__body-float-left\">\u201cI\u2019ll address it before y\u2019all do \u2014 I know everybody was concerned about me not showing up at (organized team activities) but for me, I definitely made sure to stay in shape,\u201c Reddick said. \u201dI think I showed that to everybody out here. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__body-float article__body-float-left\">\u201cI don\u2019t think it should\u2019ve been a question, but (I) just had some things to button up on as I get ready to make this transition down here so that way, once I get here, I don\u2019t have to worry about (anything) back there at home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Bucs?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">#Bucs<\/a> edge rusher Hasson Reddick addresses why he didn\u2019t participate in OTAs (although he was here in Phase 2 of offseason workouts). Reddick said he needed go button up the move to Tampa so he could give 100 percent when he got here. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/pE7cogAkGU\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/pE7cogAkGU<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Rick Stroud (@NFLSTROUD) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NFLSTROUD\/status\/1932833566418694477?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">June 11, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"article__body-float article__body-float-left\">Reddick, 30, came under scrutiny for a couple reasons. One, he held out after being traded to the Jets from the Eagles last season, missing training camp and seven regular-season games.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The result was a career-low one sack before becoming an unrestricted free agent. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Also fresh in the minds of Bucs fans was the no-show of edge rusher Randy Gregory after he signed a one-year deal with the team a year ago. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Since agreeing to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tampabay.com\/sports\/bucs\/2025\/03\/14\/new-buc-haason-reddick-ready-fresh-start-after-weird-year-with-jets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tampabay.com\/sports\/bucs\/2025\/03\/14\/new-buc-haason-reddick-ready-fresh-start-after-weird-year-with-jets\/\">a one-year, $14 million contract<\/a> with the Bucs in March, Reddick had been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tampabay.com\/sports\/bucs\/2025\/06\/09\/haason-reddick-chris-godwin-jamel-dean-mandatory-minicamp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tampabay.com\/sports\/bucs\/2025\/06\/09\/haason-reddick-chris-godwin-jamel-dean-mandatory-minicamp\/\">working with trainer Kenny Williams <\/a>at his Reds Camp in Philadelphia.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cI know how important it is to stay in shape during this time,\u201d Reddick said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">It didn\u2019t take Reddick long to give the Bucs a preview of his coming attractions. Playing with minimal contact and no pads, Reddick looked explosive in beating tackle Luke Goedeke and others off the snap on several occasions in practice the past two days.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Between plays. You want to remain close.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Certainly, Reddick knows how to get to the quarterback. Before what became a lost year with the Jets, he had 50.5 sacks playing for the Cardinals, Panthers and Eagles from 2020-23.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Reddick was asked how eager he was to \u201cregain his reputation\u201d as one of the league\u2019s premier pass rushers. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cRegain my reputation as a premier pass rusher,\u201d Reddick repeated. \u201cRegain my rep, huh? Let\u2019s just say, I am motivated but not for that type of stuff, right? Like, I don\u2019t care what people think about me, to be honest. People can say whatever they want. That\u2019s your opinion and you\u2019re entitled to it. &#8230; <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cWhat you talk about, things like that, as long as I\u2019m in a great place and a safe space and my mental is strong? That\u2019s the only thing that I\u2019m worried about.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">That\u2019s not to say Reddick wouldn\u2019t want a little revenge on his former teams. It just so happens the Bucs have all of them (Cardinals, Panthers, Eagles, Jets) on their schedule this season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cI would be lying if I said that didn\u2019t have a part in my decision-making,\u201d Reddick said. \u201cBut at the end of the day, I\u2019m just happy to be down here, back in a great state to play football. I\u2019ve been on other teams. Had great times. Had bad times. Those things are behind me. I\u2019m just worried about being at my best for the Bucs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Reddick said after only two days, he likes the energy the young players have brought to the defense.
