KANSAS CITY, Mo. \u2014 Many Brazilian Kansas City Chiefs fans are going to great lengths to watch their favorite team play in S\u00e3o Paulo. <\/p>\n
For some, that means spending more than 20 hours in line just to get a ticket.<\/p>\n
Chiefs fans in Brazil say there were more than 200 people in line as of 11 p.m. local time in S\u00e3o Paulo on Wednesday night, waiting to buy tickets for the team’s season opener.<\/p>\n
Tickets for the general public go on sale Thursday, online and in person. Fearing it will be difficult to buy tickets online, many fans have already lined up at Ibirapuera Shopping Mall.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt’s the chance of my life,\u201d said Rodrigo Gutierrez, who\u2019s doing all kinds of \u201ccrazy things\u201d to watch his favorite football team.<\/p>\n

He was on a bus traveling to S\u00e3o Paulo when KSHB’s Fernanda Silva interviewed him on Wednesday. <\/p>\n
He was 75 miles closer to the dream of his life\u2014watching the Chiefs in person.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have to get the ticket; there’s no other option,\u201d Rodrigo said in Portuguese.<\/p>\n
He plans to spend the cold S\u00e3o Paulo night outside\u2014in line\u2014to buy the ticket on Thursday. He traveled with his wife and left their three kids with family and friends.<\/p>\n
But it’s been a bumpy road.<\/p>\n
Rodrigo took out a loan to pay for his tickets, but a motorcycle accident just days ago forced him to use that money for medical bills, pushing him further into debt.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m going to buy my ticket, and I\u2019ll figure everything else out later,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
According to Rodrigo, watching the Chiefs play at Arrowhead Stadium feels almost impossible, so he couldn\u2019t risk missing the chance to see Patrick Mahomes in person.<\/p>\n
Rodrigo isn\u2019t the only fan going to extremes to watch the Chiefs.<\/p>\n
Some tickets are being sold for 3,400 reais\u2014about $613. That\u2019s more than twice Brazil\u2019s monthly minimum wage.<\/p>\n
\u201cI said, \u2018We need to find a way to go to this game,\u2019\u201d said Nathalia Eloiza, another passionate fan. She already has her ticket and says she was the first in line for the pre-sale.<\/p>\n

She waited 20 hours to buy her ticket in person.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the early morning, we were literally on the street,\u201d said Nathalia, who became a fan inspired by Taylor Swift.<\/p>\n
She also says this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. \u201cI don’t know when I\u2019ll have this chance again,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Now, she\u2019s helping her friends get their tickets. <\/p>\n
On Wednesday night, Nathalia and Rodrigo are in the same line. <\/p>\n
They are hoping to celebrate together on Thursday for their chance to watch the Chiefs in person.<\/p>\n
