Shedeur Sanders, the highly touted quarterback from Colorado<\/a>, experienced a dramatic slide in the 2025 NFL Draft<\/a>. He fell to the fifth round, where the Cleveland Browns<\/a> selected him at pick No. 144, despite earlier projections as a top-five pick.<\/p>\n

And even then, the Browns brass didn\u2019t exactly look enamored<\/a> with their selection.<\/p>\n

Former NFL quarterback Boomer Esiason, speaking on WFAN\u2019s \u201cBoomer & Gio,\u201d revealed that multiple league owners instructed their teams to remove Sanders from their draft boards entirely, citing his entitled attitude as a significant deterrent.<\/p>\n

Esiason, a former NFL MVP, noted that Sanders\u2019 brash confidence, exemplified by his claims at the NFL Combine about transforming team cultures, alienated coaches and general managers.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you listen to this kid talk, right prior or at the combine, about how if you want a new culture in your locker room, I\u2019m the guy to do that, I can turn it around, he\u2019s very high on himself, and I think he\u2019s very off-putting to many, many coaches and general managers in the league,\u201d Esiason said.<\/p>\n

According to Boomer Esiason, three NFL sources confirmed that Shedeur Sanders was removed from their boards due to ownership directives.<\/p>\n

They didn\u2019t want him on their team. Period.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m telling you right now, and I know this after talking to three different personnel people in the NFL this weekend, they didn\u2019t even have him on their board,\u201d Esiason explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey took him off, and they took him off because the owner said, \u2018Take him off, I don\u2019t want that guy. I don\u2019t want this \u2026 entitled person on our team,\u2019 and I don\u2019t blame them.\u201d<\/p>\n

The pre-draft process was further complicated by the influence of Sanders\u2019 father, Deion Sanders, a Hall of Famer who coached Shedeur at Colorado and Jackson State.<\/p>\n

Deion\u2019s comments about potentially pulling an \u201cEli\u201d maneuver\u2014referencing Eli Manning\u2019s 2004 draft-day trade demand\u2014and his vocal control over Shedeur\u2019s NFL destination may have worsened perceptions of entitlement.<\/p>\n

Boomer Esiason emphasized that Shedeur\u2019s failure to take the pre-draft process seriously, unlike his father\u2019s exceptional talent, which allowed Deion to bypass such scrutiny, contributed significantly to his fall.<\/p>\n

Despite the controversy, Sanders joins a crowded Browns quarterback room, including veterans like Joe Flacco and Deshaun Watson, offering him a chance to prove his critics wrong through performance.<\/p>\n
