The Bolts held their third and final mandatory practice Thursday, going for less than an hour in a non-padded session.<\/p>\n
The Chargers are slated to hold three more voluntary Organized Team Activity practices next week.<\/p>\n
Here are three observations from Thursday’s minicamp practice:<\/p>\n
1. Herbert throws 4 TDs in red zone<\/p>\n
The Chargers primarily focused on 7-on-7 drills in Thursday’s session, which included lots of work in the red zone.<\/p>\n
In other words, it was Justin Herbert’s time to shine.<\/p>\n
The Chargers quarterback<\/a> thrived in the surrounding as he threw four total touchdown passes, including back-to-back scores early on in the drill.<\/p>\n Herbert opened the drill with three straight completions as he found Derius Davis, Will Dissly and rookie Oronde Gadsden<\/a> for short gains.<\/p>\n He then threaded a pass to Quentin Johnston in the back of the end zone for an 8-yard score before finding Jalen Reagor on a crossing route for a 4-yard touchdown on the next play.<\/p>\n Herbert’s 3-yard pass to Johnston on the ensuing play was incomplete due to strong coverage from Cam Hart.<\/p>\n Gadsden, by the way, later ran a smooth corner route to pop open for a 20-yard gain from Taylor Heinicke and the reserve offensive group.<\/p>\n
