ASHBURN, Va. (DC News Now) \u2014 During the offseason, the Washington Commanders acquired left tackle Laremy Tunsil from the Houston Texans.<\/p>\n
The five-time pro bowler spoke to reporters as a Commander for the first time on Thursday as the team wrapped up its mandatory minicamp.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe work gonna show for itself as long as we stay consistent and keep working. That\u2019s what matters the most,\u201d Tunsil said. \u201cEverybody is shooting for the Super Bowl. That\u2019s why we work our butt off to get that Super Bowl ring. I think that\u2019s something very important to us and that\u2019s something that we\u2019re trying to achieve.\u201d<\/p>\n
If the Commanders are going to win their first Super Bowl since the 1991-92 season, Tunsil\u2019s role protecting quarterback Jayden Daniels blindside could be a critical reason why they do. As minicamp wraps up, Tunsil is embracing taking on that role.<\/p>\n
\u201cI try to get as close to [Daniels] as I can,\u201d Tunsil said. \u201cAs a quarterback that\u2019s somebody that I try to protect. So I try to put my life on the line for him \u2013 in football terms of course.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Commanders are breaking until training camp begins in July. When training camp and preseason arrive, Tunsil will likely have even more time to mesh with his new teammates.<\/p>\n
