Obviously want to carry that over to training camp, but he’s done a really good job. Great command of the huddle, ultimate pro.”<\/p>\nWith Anthony Richardson sidelined for most of OTAs and all of minicamp with a shoulder injury, Jones has no longer had to split the first team reps, but has instead been able to take all of them.<\/p>\n
“He’s a veteran player, obviously,” Steichen added. “Like I said, very intelligent. He works at, grinds at it. So not surprised on how he’s picked up the offense. Obviously, in those meetings we have in the quarterback room with those guys, the conversations that we have, they’ve been really good. I’ve been very pleased with him.”<\/p>\n
As Steichen has described previously, what he is looking for in this quarterback competition is consistency, and from the sounds of it, Jones was able to provide that.<\/p>\n
His performance in practice over these last few weeks certainly hasn’t won him the job, but Jones very well could have the upper hand going into training camp.<\/p>\n
