The Kansas City Chiefs’ offensive line has been a major talking point this offseason, with so many moving parts in front of Patrick Mahomes<\/a>.<\/p>\n

One of those parts is left tackle Kingsley Suamataia.<\/p>\n

The rookie endured a tough time last season, and despite playing 15 games, he only started two, with his inconsistent play leading to Wanya Morris and then Joe Thuney being shifted outside to tackle.<\/p>\n

But now that Thuney is with the Chicago Bears, a spot opened up at left guard, and Kingsley will be moved inside in 2025. While it is only early in his position switch, head coach Andy Reid likes what he sees from his second-year player.<\/p>\n

\u201cFirst of all, he’s got experience, and then he looks more comfortable there,\u201d Reid said<\/a>. \u201cHe seems to be picking it up pretty well, not that we’re going full speed contact, but he has an opportunity to go against Chris [Jones] and that that’ll surely help him for the season.\u201d<\/p>\n

With a new left tackle, either Jaylon Moore or Josh Simmons, coupled with Suamataia at guard, the left side of Mahomes’ line will be completely new.<\/p>\n

That isn’t ideal for a quarterback who was sacked a career-high 47 times last season, but moves have been made to solidify his protection.<\/p>\n

Granted, the questions aimed at the line won’t be answered until the season begins, but Suamataia is making good progress at left guard; however, if the Chiefs are to go deep into the postseason, that offensive line is going to have to play well and protect Patrick.<\/p>\n

Some are skeptical of the offensive line right now, but Reid seems content with the progress Kingsley is making this offseason.<\/p>\n
