\u201cNoise\u201d is the new buzzword at North Carolina for describing anything mentioning the \u2018It\u2019 couple on campus.\u00a0<\/p>\n

North Carolina football general manager Michael Lombardi \u2013 head coach Bill Belichick\u2019s right-hand man \u2013 appeared Saturday on ESPN Radio\u2019s \u201cMarty and McGee\u201d and was asked about all the recent reporting around Belichick and girlfriend Jordon Hudson.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, a lot of it is just noise,\u201d Lombardi said, according to Pro Football Talk<\/a>. \u201cAnd for us to be distracted by something that has no bearing, that has no relevance whatsoever, that is a complete falsehood in terms of what people are saying or what they\u2019re writing, it\u2019s comical. And for me to really even attack anybody who\u2019s saying it gives them credibility. Which I don\u2019t, because it\u2019s a completely false narrative.\u201d<\/p>\n

Belichick used the same term this week when asked about the slew of reports that have followed his disastrous \u201cCBS Sunday Morning\u201d interview in April<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It was meant to promote his book \u201cThe Art of Winning,\u201d but ended up drawing attention to the influence that the 24-year-old Hudson seems to be wielding over the 73-year-old greatest coach in NFL history because she wouldn\u2019t let him answer a question on how they met.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cLook, I\u2019m really focused on doing my job here at North Carolina\u2026 that\u2019s my big focus,\u201d Belichick\u00a0said when asked what the biggest misconception about him is amid the public interest in his personal life. \u201cIs there noise out there? We\u2019ve always dealt with that.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Belichick didn\u2019t get into specific denials, Lombardi sort of did. He twisted an interpretation of factual reports that Belichick\u2019s contract buyout dropped from $10 million to $1 million on June 1<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne report [said Belichick] wasn\u2019t supposed to be here [at] the beginning of June. And the next report came out that he was going to go back to the NFL,\u201d Lombardi said. \u201cI mean, it\u2019s all just a bunch of stuff being thrown up against the wall. \u2026 And the noise out there comes from a direction of people trying to be disruptive within our program. We\u2019re not going to allow it. We\u2019re not going to acknowledge it. We\u2019re going to move on. And look, let\u2019s face it, the proof\u2019s in the pudding. We\u2019re having a tremendous recruiting class. We had a tremendous portal.\u201d<\/p>\n

Former Bears public relations executive Brandon Faber joined the North Carolina staff<\/a> in May.<\/p>\n

Some of the reports that have surfaced are based on open public records like emails from university addresses and The Post\u2019s combing through real-estate purchase documents.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverybody looked at each other and was like in complete amazement,\u201d Lombardi said of the public reaction to the CBS interview. \u201cI mean, so, we didn\u2019t have any reason to circle the wagons. The reason we had was to focus on what we\u2019re going to do. As Bill said in a lot of the interviews \u2014 and I don\u2019t want to speak for Coach Belichick \u2014 but he said, \u2018Look, Jordon does stuff in his business outside of North Carolina football, not here.\u2019 <\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, it\u2019s just completely a story that was generated from \u2014 basically, made up.
