CONROE, Texas – Houston Texans safety Jimmie Ward was arrested early Thursday morning for allegedly assaulting his fianc\u00e9e.<\/p>\n

What we know:<\/p>\n

Montgomery County deputies<\/a> responded to a report of an assault at a home in Magnolia around 4:34 a.m.<\/p>\n

According to the sheriff\u2019s office, deputies spoke to a woman who alleged she had been assaulted, strangled and threatened by Ward, her fianc\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Ward was taken into custody and booked into the Montgomery County Jail. He paid his $30,000 bond by Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n

The sheriff\u2019s office says Ward was booked on a charge of assault – family violence impeding breath\/circulation, a third-degree felony.<\/p>\n

An Emergency Protective Order was also filed at the request of Ward\u2019s fianc\u00e9e.<\/p>\n

In a press release, the sheriff’s office said, “The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to protecting victims of domestic violence and holding offenders accountable through swift and thorough investigations. Anyone experiencing domestic abuse is encouraged to contact local authorities or reach out to the Montgomery County Women\u2019s Center at 936-441-7273 for resources and support.”<\/p>\n
