During his press conference on Thursday, Kansas City Chiefs<\/a> defensive back Jaden Hicks praised former teammate Justin Reid for preparing him for a more significant role in the 2025 season.<\/p>\n

“I think I’m a lot more comfortable this year, there’s obviously still room to grow, still room to learn, but I think J (Justin) Reid was a great help,” Hicks said, “He helped me get everything under myself, and just keep stacking the days, keep getting better each day. And I think that’s the most important thing for this year.<\/p>\n

Reid finished his last season in Kansas City with 81 combined tackles (55 solo) and two interceptions. He agreed to a three-year, $31.5 million deal with the New Orleans Saints<\/a>, including $22.25 million in fully guaranteed salary.<\/p>\n

“Obviously I’m kind of playing the role that he was playing this year, he really did a great job taking me under his wing,” said Hicks. “Being savvy, knowing how to disguise his defense a lot, and that’s a big part of our scheme. He did a really good job with that. And, just setting a good example for what I should look up to.”<\/p>\n

Hicks finished his rookie season with 29 total tackles, three tackles for loss, along with five pass deflections and three interceptions. He will look to do more with a bigger role expected in 2025.<\/p>\n
