\u201cWe\u2019re going to recruit the state a little different. People may not like it, they may like it. It doesn\u2019t matter \u2018cause what we\u2019re doing isn\u2019t working to attract the highest-level player. I think we\u2019re trending in that direction, but we\u2019re going to be a little bit different in how we recruit the state to try to keep the best players in the state home.\u201d<\/p>\n
Recruiting Arizona has consistently held the program back no matter the coach, including the debacle where Brock Purdy\u2019s initial offer was only as a preferred walk-on before then-coach Herm Edwards misremembered the entire situation<\/a>.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, exceptions such as D.J. Foster, N\u2019Keal Harry and Chase Lucas have proven to be the outliers rather than the trendsetters, while No. 1 running back Bijan Robinson and top-10 quarterback Ty Thompson are other recent examples of standouts leaving the state.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m born and raised here, a lot of our staff is from here. We\u2019re trying to figure out this code to recruit the state,\u201d Dillingham said. \u201cWhat we\u2019re doing right now isn\u2019t necessarily working at the highest level yet.
