Former NFL head coach Jon Gruden once famously said ‘I’m not into dreams, I’m into nightmares, you gotta take their job, take their heart,” and that is what New York Jets running back Breece Hall<\/a> is doing this offseason.<\/p>\n

Or at least trying to do.<\/p>\n

Seen as the bellcow back for his first few years as a Jet, but under new head coach Aaron Glenn, he will be part of a three-back system, and in a contract year, that isn’t ideal.<\/p>\n

With Hall competing with Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis for reps, the veteran knows that while he was “the” guy in the backfield, with a new regime, he’s got to prove it all over again.<\/p>\n

\u201cI’m not obligated to anything,\u201d Hall said<\/a>. \u201cI’m around new GM, new coaches, a lot of new faces, so for me, I got to go prove that I am the guy. My skill set, I’m a three-down back is second to none to a lot of backs in the league. We have a great running back room, a lot of healthy competition, but my mentality is every day I’m going to prove that I am the best back on this roster, one of the best backs in the league. I have a quote on my phone that says, “If not me, then who?” I look at it every morning, and that’s my internal motivation.\u201d<\/p>\n

There’s no doubt Breece has more skins on the wall, and one can say he is the most talented of the three backs that offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand will use.<\/p>\n

But it appears that counts for little with a running back-by-committee approach going to be used behind Justin Fields.<\/p>\n

Hall knows what type of player he is, and he is ready to end this competition before it starts in training camp.\u00a0Both Allen and Davis have dreams to become a more integral part of the offense in 2025, but Hall is here to squash those dreams.<\/p>\n

He’s ready to make 2025 a nightmare for those who want to take his job.<\/p>\n
