Bill Belichick<\/a> has responded to his viral interview from CBS Sunday Morning.<\/a><\/p>\n

In a statement released by North Carolina, Belichick claimed there was a \u201cfalse narrative\u201d that emerged following a \u201cselectively edited\u201d interview. The former Patriots<\/a> coach said the eight-minute clip that aired was from an sit down that lasted more than half an hour and misrepresented Jordon Hudson\u2019s role. <\/p>\n

During the interview, Belichick was asked about meeting his now 24-year-old girlfriend. She interrupted from the side of the stage, saying \u201cwe\u2019re not talking about this.\u201d CBS included the clip and noted Hudson was \u201ca constant presence\u201d in the interview.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s Belichick\u2019s full statement: <\/p>\n

\u201cI agreed to speak with CBS Sunday Morning to promote my new book, \u2018The Art of Winning – Lessons from My Life in Football.\u2019 Prior to this interview, I clearly communicated with my publicist at Simon & Schuster that any promotional interviews I participated in would agree to focus solely on the contents of the book.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnfortunately, that expectation was not honored during the interview. I was surprised when unrelated topics were introduced, and I repeatedly expressed to the reporter, Tony Dokoupil, and the producers that I preferred to keep the conversation centered on the book. After this occurred several times, Jordon, with whom I share both a personal and professional relationship, stepped in to reiterate that point to help refocus the discussion. She was not deflecting any specific question or topic but simply doing her job to ensure the interview stayed on track. Some of the clips make it appear as though we were avoiding the question of how we met, but we have been open about the fact that Jordon and I met on a flight to Palm Beach in 2021.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe final eight-minute segment does not reflect the productive 35-minute conversation we had, which covered a wide range of topics related to my career. Instead, it presents selectively edited clips and stills from just a few minutes of the interview to suggest a false narrative – that Jordon was attempting to control the conversation – which is simply not true.\u201d<\/p>\n

In reporting on the interview, TMZ<\/a> said at one point Hudson \u201cstormed out of the room and delayed shooting for 30 minutes.\u201d They added<\/a> that nobody from Belichick\u2019s publishing company or North Carolina came with him for the interview, it was just Hudson, and there were plenty of hiccups.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re told outside of that baffling moment that made the final edit, there were numerous other instances of Hudson butting in \u2014 even when the legendary coach was answering questions about football, she would stop and correct him,” TMZ writes.<\/p>\n
