With mandatory minicamp in the rearview mirror, the Houston Texans now turn their attention to training camp, where one\u00a0position group is certain to draw attention.<\/p>\n

After pairing former Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb with Joe Mixon this offseason, the Houston Texans have a one-two punch that might be one of the best in the NFL.\u00a0As a result of the Chubb addition,\u00a0Bleacher Report NFL insider Damian Parsons<\/a> recently named Texans running back Woody Marks among six rookies under the most pressure entering 2025 NFL training camp. <\/p>\n

“Where does Marks fit in?” Parsons wrote. “He would still be the best pure pass catcher in the room, but Mixon is a well-versed receiving back out of the backfield. He has 319 receptions over his eight-year career. There\u2019s a chance Marks doesn\u2019t receive the snap share as the initial expectations suggested.”<\/p>\n

A former standout for Mississippi State and USC, the Houston Texans selected Marks in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.<\/p>\n

Last fall with the Trojans, the 5-foot-10, 208-pound versatile tailback amassed 1,454 yards from scrimmage and nine touchdowns. Known for his pass catching ability, Marks recorded 261 receptions for 1,546 yards throughout his collegiate career.<\/p>\n

“In training camp, he must prove to the Texans’ coaching staff that he is the best option on passing downs.” Parsons suggested. “Marks should impress them when matched up with a linebacker in coverage, but demonstrating that he is reliable to stay in and protect CJ Stroud will strengthen his case for playing time alongside the two veteran ball carriers.”<\/p>\n

Parsons went on to add, “While Marks isn\u2019t the starter, and he shouldn\u2019t be, there\u2019s a role he can play in this offense. However, he has to prove his worth when the pads begin to pop next month.”<\/p>\n

While no official start date has been announced, the Texans are expected to begin training camp in mid-July.<\/p>\n
