Rolapp\u2019s vast responsibilities will be divided among current NFL executives, per the source, who was granted anonymity because the details are private.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tLast week, Rolapp was named the first <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sportico.com\/personalities\/executives\/2025\/nfl-brian-rolapp-leading-pga-tour-ceo-candidate-1234855825\/\">CEO of the PGA Tour<\/a>. He spent more than 20 years at the NFL and had been its chief <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportico.com\/t\/media\/\" id=\"auto-tag_media_1\" data-tag=\"media\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">media<\/a> and business officer since 2017. Rolapp spearheaded the league\u2019s media strategy, with its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportico.com\/business\/media\/2021\/nfl-renews-tv-rights-fox-espn-nbc-cbs-1234623948\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.sportico.com\/business\/media\/2021\/nfl-renews-tv-rights-fox-espn-nbc-cbs-1234623948\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">current agreements<\/a> worth more than $120 billion over 11 years. He also oversaw the league\u2019s sponsorship business and its investment arm, 32 Equity, which has invested in DraftKings, Fanatics, Genius Sports and NoBull.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cWe have spent some time planning for this change and are confident we will successfully manage the responsibilities while we align our structure to meet our long-term strategic goals,\u201d NFL commissioner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportico.com\/t\/roger-goodell\/\" id=\"auto-tag_roger-goodell_1\" data-tag=\"roger-goodell\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Roger Goodell<\/a> wrote in a memo to team presidents announcing Rolapp\u2019s departure.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe NFL did not respond to a request to comment on its plans to replace Rolapp.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tHans Schroeder is one executive who should absorb many of Rolapp\u2019s responsibilities on the media side. He joined the NFL in 2001 and was Rolapp\u2019s deputy as COO of NFL Media. Keeping the NFL\u2019s media partners happy is a critical role; they provide the bulk of the $400 million-plus check each team gets from the league office annually.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe NFL has an opt-out of its media deals in 2029, and the league recognizes its leverage as the undisputed leader in drawing viewers to live broadcasts. At the last Super Bowl, Goodell told reporters that the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sportico.com\/business\/media\/2025\/fox-bigger-bite-nfl-rights-pie-2029-opt-out-1234841537\/\">NFL\u2019s option to exit<\/a> its current media rights contracts presents an \u201cincredibly valuable\u201d opportunity for the league.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tRenie Anderson, who joined the league office in 2006, is another top lieutenant at the NFL who will take on more. She was named chief revenue officer in 2019 and oversees partnerships, sponsorships and consumer products.
