Who is the “make-or-break” player for the Jacksonville Jaguars <\/a>heading into the 2025 NFL season?<\/p>\n

Dalton Wasserman of Pro Football Focus<\/a> recently made his selection for each NFL team, and when it comes to the Jaguars<\/a>, he went with cornerback Tyson Campbell as his selection.<\/p>\n

“Over the past two seasons, he has recorded a far more mediocre 60.3 PFF coverage grade,” wrote Wasserman. “Campbell isn\u2019t leaving Jacksonville anytime soon, but the defense needs him to play like a star this year after ranking 25th in the NFL in team PFF coverage grade last season.”<\/p>\n

Throughout offseason programs, whether it be Liam Coen or Anthony Campanile, both have offered high praise for Campbell, who seems to be acclimating very well to this new defensive scheme.<\/p>\n

Under Campanile, we are going to see a vision-based approach in the secondary, which means all eyes will be locked on the quarterback. As Campanile has described, the eyes and recognition are where success starts for any defender.<\/p>\n

This can then potentially result in more plays on the football, and it also means we are going to see more zone and less man coverage from this new-look Jaguars’ defense.<\/p>\n

“I really am really, really fired up about everything he’s done this offseason because he’s competed so hard in the practices,” Campanile said recently<\/a>. “He’s fighting for every rep, whether it’s at the top of the route, on the line of scrimmage, in the break area.<\/p>\n

“He’s just really trying to play with a lot of detail, and I think a lot of that shows up if you were to sit and watch his individual. He’s competing his tail off in individual.”<\/p>\n

During the 2022 season, Campbell allowed a completion rate of 61% while coming away with three interceptions and nine pass breakups. This new scheme can hopefully play a role in getting Campbell back to that level of ball production this season.<\/p>\n
