And she said that she thinks sophomore linebacker Jordan Magee has a chance to have a very big role in 2025.

“Jordan Magee has the chance to take a huge leap,” Jhabvala said. “In part because he played so few defensive snaps last season with injuries and whatnot. And he’s getting a lot of reps because Bobby Wagner doesn’t need these minicamp reps. And he does look more confident out there. I know DQ [Dan Quinn] and Adam Peters have raved about him. They really expect him to take a major leap this year.”

Washington selected Magee with the 139th pick in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, but he was limited to just eight games as a result of some injuries that he suffered. So he will be hoping to stay healthy and on the field in his second season in the league.

In his final season at Temple University, he racked up an impressive 80 total tackles, 14 of which were for a loss. He was also able to show his versatility with 3.5 sacks as well as four pass deflections.

If Magee can step up in his sophomore year like the team knows he can, then he could really push the team’s defensive unit over the top.

Related: Brian Robinson Jr. Focused on Breakout Season in Contract Year

Related: Commanders Sophomore Corner Labeled Prime Breakout Candidate

This story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jun 17, 2025, where it first appeared.

Commanders Hoping For Defensive Star With Second-Year Linebacker originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
