{"id":139310,"date":"2025-06-18T09:55:17","date_gmt":"2025-06-18T09:55:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/139310\/"},"modified":"2025-06-18T09:55:17","modified_gmt":"2025-06-18T09:55:17","slug":"former-raiders-receiver-henry-ruggs-apologizes-to-victims-family-at-las-vegas-event-nfl","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/139310\/","title":{"rendered":"Former Raiders receiver Henry Ruggs apologizes to victim&#8217;s family at Las Vegas event | NFL"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs, on special release Tuesday night, spoke at a Hope for Prisoners event in Las Vegas and apologized to the family of a woman <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/nfl-sports-las-vegas-nevada-football-5be028d92a41c43e5f3357d36dac7b16?utm_source=copy&amp;utm_medium=share\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">he killed in a car crash<\/a> nearly four years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Ruggs drove his sports car at speeds up to 156 mph in the city on Nov. 2, 2021, slamming into a vehicle that killed driver Tina Tintor and her dog, Max. Tintor was 23.<\/p>\n<p>Ruggs was asked at the event what he would say to Tintor&#8217;s family.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne, I wish I could turn back the hands of time,\u201d he said in a video taken by the Las Vegas Review-Journal. \u201cI would love for them to meet the real Henry Ruggs and not the one that was escaping from something. I sincerely apologize for not only being a part of that situation, but the fact my face is always in the news, it&#8217;s always in the newspaper. So they have to constantly be reminded of the situation, be reminded of me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ruggs, a former first-round draft pick, <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/raiders-ruggs-nfl-fatal-dui-vegas-4f4fdd413e0f483ce07146be7ddde9a9\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">pleaded guilty in May<\/a> 2023 to felony DUI causing death and misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter.
