Texas A&M Football Offense Has Two Top Running Backs Rueben Owens and Le’Veon MossHealthy and Back From Injury For the 2025-26 Season<\/a> originally appeared on Athlon Sports<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Texas A&M football has its offense back up and running\u00a0\u2014 literally.<\/p>\n

Head coach Mike Elko shared that two running backs that suffered injuries last year have been back, healthy, and ready for the upcoming season.<\/p>\n

A five-star recruit from the class of 2023 suffered a Lisfranc fracture before his sophomore season even started. A fall camp scrimmage ultimately left Rueben Owens sidelined for the majority of the 2024 season.<\/p>\n

Owens finally saw the field again on Week 14 against the Texas Longhorns. He ended his short-lived sophomore season with 16 carries for 66 yards. Thirteen of his rushes for 56 yards came from the Las Vegas Bowl against USC.<\/p>\n

As a freshman, the running back had 101 carries for 385 yards and three touchdowns. Nearly a\u00a0year after his fracture, Elko confirmed at Coach’s Night<\/a> that Owens is back to a 100 percent and is ready to redeem a breakout season intended for his sophomore year.<\/p>\n

“It’s been a long road back to recovery for him,” Elko said. “He was a trooper for us last year, going out and battling before he was back to 100 percent.”<\/p>\n

In Owens’ place, rising senior Le’Veon Moss took the reigns in the back field. However, his season also ended prematurely as Moss played in nine games before suffering a season-ending knee injury.<\/p>\n

Before going out, though, the running back totaled 765 yards and 10 touchdowns over 121 carries. He also tallied 10 receptions for 141 yards in his junior year.<\/p>\n

While he remained sidelined for the 2025 spring practices, Elko said that Moss is on track to return in the fall.<\/p>\n

“It’s great to have [Moss] back and healthy. He looks awesome,” Elko\u00a0said<\/a>.<\/a> “He has done an unbelievable job of rehab to get himself in position where he’s running full-speed right now.”<\/p>\n
