In an appearance on ESPN’s Unsportsmanlike radio show, former Miami Dolphins and New Orleans Saints left tackle Terron Armstead made a bold comparison between two of his former quarterbacks and offered a huge vote of confidence for Miami ahead of its 2025 season.<\/p>\n

The five-time Pro Bowl left tackle compared Tua Tagovailoa to Drew Brees when asked why fans should be confident that Tagovailoa is the answer long-term.<\/p>\n

“I wholeheartedly believe in Tua. I believe in his ability. I’ve seen him snap into a mode that looks familiar to me from Drew Brees,” Armstead said. “That’s why I have no problem making that comparison. The consistency of that, him snapping into that like an assassin mode – that sniper mode – that’s that championship DNA that we want to see more consistently.”<\/p>\n

Consistency is the key, though. Whether it’s been injuries or inconsistent play, Tagovailoa has shown the pinpoint accuracy and quick decision-making ability, but he needs to sustain it more.<\/p>\n

Armstead continued to give his vote of confidence to Tagovailoa and made a bold statement about the potential of the Dolphins if their stars can stay healthy.<\/p>\n

“I believe that he can do it, I believe he can. If we can keep him upright upfront. I think the Dolphins season, it comes down to Tua’s availability and if we can get Bradley Chubb and Jaelen Phillips healthy,” Armstead said. “On that defense, I think those two guys healthy with Chop Robinson, it changes the whole dynamic of the team.”<\/p>\n

“If we can get those three factors, those three guys that I named, there’s no limit to me. I feel that strongly, there’s no limit.”<\/p>\n

Armstead’s opinion speaks volumes. The 13-year NFL veteran spent seven years in New Orleans with Brees, where the future Hall of Famer led the league in passing and completion percentage three times.<\/p>\n

Then he spent the final three years of his career in Miami with Tagovailoa before retiring this offseason. To Armstead’s point, Tagovailoa led the league in passing yards in 2023 and completion percentage in 2024.<\/p>\n

Tagovailoa is also the only quarterback in the NFL to have a passer rating over 100 in each of the last three seasons. There’s been plenty of doubt around the Dolphins’ franchise quarterback, but when he’s healthy, the numbers tell a strong story.<\/p>\n

There are a lot of question marks around the Dolphins heading into 2025, but they also seem to have everyone healthy, for now, for the first time in a while. If Tagovailoa, Chubb, Phillips, and Robinson can stay healthy, Armstead believes the Dolphins can compete with anyone in the league.<\/p>\n
