{"id":142535,"date":"2025-06-19T15:17:12","date_gmt":"2025-06-19T15:17:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/142535\/"},"modified":"2025-06-19T15:17:12","modified_gmt":"2025-06-19T15:17:12","slug":"longtime-fox-nfl-sideline-reporter-laura-okmin-leaves-after-23-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/142535\/","title":{"rendered":"Longtime Fox NFL sideline reporter Laura Okmin leaves after 23 years"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fox\u2019s NFL broadcasts will have a notable void this year.<\/p>\n<p>Longtime sideline reporter Laura Okmin is leaving the network after 23 years, <a href=\"https:\/\/frontofficesports.com\/laura-okmin-leaves-fox-sports-after-23-years-marking-end-of-era\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">she told Front Office Sports<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Okmin is the third-longest sideline reporter in NFL history, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com\/presspass\/bios\/on-air\/laura-okmin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">according to her Fox biography<\/a>, and is trading in her mic to focus more on her <a href=\"https:\/\/lauraokmin.com\/galvanize\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">GALVANIZE<\/a> company that helps aspiring women in sports professions, along with other opportunities both within and outside football.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"36288485\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/GettyImages-1236255377.jpg\" alt=\"Laura Okmin is leaving Fox on her own accord.\" class=\"wp-image-36288485\"  \/>Laura Okmin is leaving Fox on her own accord. Icon Sportswire via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>She will, however, continue to cover the NFL postseason and Super Bowl for Westwood One radio network.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey (Fox) sent me the contract. I printed it out. I sat there. It was just my voice saying, \u2018It\u2019s time, this is it,&#8217;\u201d Okmin told Front Office Sports.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI called my boss and my friend Jacob Ullman, who I\u2019ve known as long as I\u2019ve been at Fox Sports. I\u2019m happy to say he was very surprised. I would have been very disappointed if there was any other reaction. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>The Kansas graduate said there have been downsides to her highly visible position.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHonestly, it\u2019s a tough job having to justify your job for 20 years,\u201d Okmin told the outlet. \u201cHaving to fight for your job and having to justify it. It feels like there\u2019s a bit of dog years with that job. There\u2019s a wonderfulness that comes with it. But also a lot of other s\u2013t.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Okmin\u2019s website states her GALVANIZE company helps women who aim to become broadcasters, along with those working in roles in the sports field, and provides a strong network for those in the industry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThrough boot camps, virtual camps and continued connectivity all year round, we are about building confidence \u2013 in ourselves and in each other,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/lauraokmin.com\/galvanize\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">her website reads<\/a>. \u201cWe are about knowing your own story while you learn to tell somebody else\u2019s \u2013 and we are about SISTERHOOD.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Fox\u2019s NFL broadcasts will have a notable void this year.
