Henry Ruggs III isn\u2019t giving up on a return to the NFL as he awaits parole two years after pleading guilty to causing a 2021 crash that killed a woman and her dog.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Packers running back Josh Jacobs is still in touch with his former Alabama teammate, and he revealed some details of their correspondence during an appearance on \u201cThe Pivot\u201d podcast with Ryan Clark on Tuesday<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n That included the ex-Raiders wide receiver staying ready for a potential NFL second chance as he serves time in prison.\u00a0<\/p>\n Raiders receiver Henry Ruggs III runs after a catch during a game against the Panthers on Sept. 13, 2020 . Getty Images<\/p>\n \u201cI still talk to Henry. Henry still calls me,\u201d Jacobs said. \u201cI still help him out. \u2026 We\u2019re still connected. I know his whole family. He\u2019s from Alabama. He played with me at Bama. His momma and them taught me how to bowl.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cKeeping up with him and hearing him talk, it brings me spirits, because he\u2019s always positive,\u201d Jacobs added. \u201cHe\u2019s positive about everything. He\u2019s training. They let him train and things like that, so I\u2019m like, \u2018When you come out, man, I don\u2019t know if you will get a chance.\u2019\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n Jacobs said he\u2019s been talking to people around the league for Ruggs, and some have been receptive.<\/p>\n \u201cThey\u2019ve been saying a couple of teams are willing to give him a chance,\u201d Jacob said. \u201cI\u2019m like, \u2018When you get that chance, man, you better not ever, don\u2019t look back, and prove to yourself and prove to everybody that one decision don\u2019t define you and who you are as a man.’\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n Henry Ruggs III Getty Images<\/p>\n Ruggs, a former first-round pick, pleaded guilty in May 2023<\/a> to driving his sports car at speeds up to 156 mph<\/a> after drinking at a Las Vegas TopGolf and a friend\u2019s house before the crash that killed 23-year-old Tina Tintor.<\/p>\n He pleaded guilty to one count of driving under the influence resulting in death, a felony, and a misdemeanor count of vehicular manslaughter.<\/p>\n Josh Jacobs was supposed to go out with Henry Riggs on the night he was arrested. @iAM_JoshJacobs<\/a> feels Tina Tintor\u2019s death should\u2019ve been avoided, & Henry Ruggs could be free.
