I\u00b4ve compiled 24 evaluations of the 2025 NFL draft and totaled the team grades. \u2014 Ren\u00e9 Bugner (@RNBWCV) April 28, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n Let’s be real; grades are dumb surrounding the NFL Draft after the weekend ends. Players on paper might be promising, but nearly half prove to be busts before the end of their rookie seasons.<\/p>\n There’s also situations where draft classes are mocked and turn out to be promising. Does anyone remember when the 2012 Seattle Seahawks<\/a> draft featuring Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner was called the “worst of all-time” or how every pick in the 2017 New Orleans Saints<\/a> draft was considered a “reach?”<\/p>\n Still, grades will be handed out, including for the nine newest members of the Houston Texans<\/a>, following this past week’s events. And that doesn\u2019t mean it isn\u2019t a fun and interesting exercise.<\/p>\n Texans Wire <\/a>handed out grades\u00a0for each pick in\u00a0Houston’s 2025 class<\/a>, ranging from A+ to D. For a broader picture of how experts feel about the Texans<\/a>‘ haul, Rene Bugner put together a spreadsheet with 24 different evaluations of classes across the NFL.<\/p>\n The Texans only received one D from Fantasy Pros’ Thor Nystrom, likely because of their lack of addressing the offensive line. Their best grade was an A, which was handed out by two different outlets (NY Post and NFL.com). Cumulatively, the Texans\u2019 GPA for this year\u2019s class was a 2.93, which was tied for 21st in the NFL \u2013\u00a0which is underwhelming, but still outside of the bottom 10.<\/p>\n No one knows what the Texans\u2019 class will look like in five years, when players will be nearing the end of their rookie contracts. Jaylin Noel could be the league’s top slot receiver while teammate Jayden Higgins could be a bust. Running back Woody Marks could be an All-Pro or an All-Bust by the time Joe Mixon’s contract is up.<\/p>\n Grades are also subjective. Last season the Texans were praised for taking offensive tackle Blake Fisher in the second round and criticized for drafting Georgia cornerback Kamari Lasster after his 4.61 40-time. No one could understand the Calen Bullock selection in a defense that demands phyiscal tackling.<\/p>\n Lassiter transformed into one of the league’s better No. 2 cornerbacks opposite All-Pro Derek Stingley Jr. Bullock improved as a tackler once in the starting role and led all rookies with five interceptions while helping cement a top-five defense. Meanwhile, Fisher could remain a backup once more and out of the Texans’ long-term plans if he doesn’t improve under new offensive coordinator Nick Caley.<\/p>\n Last year,\u00a0the Texans’ class was ranked 20th<\/a>\u00a0based on 20 expert grades, and even that might be too low given the impact of Lassiter, Bullock and several other role players.<\/p>\n
