ELLENSBURG, Wash. \u2013 Central Washington University<\/a>‘s Tanner Volk is gearing up for a rookie minicamp with the Seattle Seahawks<\/a> this weekend. The undrafted free agent hopes to leave a lasting impression and fulfill his NFL aspirations.<\/p>\n

Volk, originally from Aloha, Oregon<\/a>, shared his excitement about the proximity to his biggest supporters. “For my family and, you know, my friends, teammates, coaches, you know, when I end up making the team, you know, it’s not going to be hard for them to come to the games and travel across the country. And, you know, my family wouldn’t miss a game regardless,” he said.<\/p>\n

Growing up in a family of Steelers fans, Volk’s parents are preparing for retirement, which will allow them more time to support him. He mentioned that he and his agent considered several teams, but the Seahawks felt like the best fit. “Show them my abilities on the football field and, and then ultimately just show them what kind of person I am, on and off the field and, show them that I can help contribute and help them, win some games. So, that’s just kind of how it how it all came about. And ended up working out and, we’ll see what happens this weekend,” Volk stated.<\/p>\n

Volk is trying to follow in the footsteps of former Central Wildcat Jon Kitna, who also made a name for himself as a Seahawk<\/a>. Volk expressed his hope to have a conversation with Kitna soon.<\/p>\n

Reflecting on his time at Central Washington University, Volk emphasized the importance of character. He said, “being a great man and teammate first and foremost and everything else will take care of itself.”<\/p>\n
