Tillery originally entered the NFL as a first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.<\/p>\n<p>The Chargers selected Tillery with the No. 28 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, making him the sixth defensive tackle selected that year.<\/p>\n<p>Heading into the draft, The Athletic&#8217;s Dane Brugler had Tillery as the No. 5 defensive tackle in the 2019 class (and his No. 32 overall player). He&#8217;s now the sixth former first-round pick on the Chiefs&#8217; roster, and one of two (joining wide receiver Hollywood Brown) that wasn&#8217;t originally drafted by Kansas City.<\/p>\n<p>5. He played his college ball at Notre Dame.<\/p>\n<p>Tillery compiled a terrific collegiate career as a four-year contributor at Notre Dame from 2015 through 2018, tallying 135 tackles, 24.5 tackles-for-loss, 13.5 sacks and four forced fumbles across 50 appearances (and 40 starts).<\/p>\n<p>He was particularly productive during his final two years in school, as he recorded at least nine tackles-for-loss and four sacks in each campaign. His senior season, specifically, included a team-best eight sacks.<\/p>\n<p>Tillery&#8217;s talents caught the attention of the Chargers, and now all these years later, he&#8217;s headed back to the AFC West as a member of the Chiefs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"4.
