We\u2019ll recap their 2024 season, look ahead to 2025, and tackle the most significant question facing them this year.<\/p>\n First up is Cooper Rush,<\/a> who is a talented backup quarterback, but could move up the list if something significant happens to MVP candidate Lamar Jackson.<\/p>\n Background<\/p>\n Position: QB<\/p>\n Age: 31<\/p>\n Experience: 9-year vet<\/p>\n 2025 cap hit: $1,904,000<\/p>\n 2024 recap<\/p>\n Last season, Rush started eight games for the Cowboys<\/a> after Dak Prescott suffered a season-ending hamstring injury. Dallas went 4-4 during Rush’s starts, and he ended the season completing 187 of 308 passes (60.7%) for 1,844 yards and 12 touchdowns with five interceptions.<\/p>\n 2025 outlook<\/p>\n Jackson immediately becomes one of the top backup quarterbacks in the NFL, and gives Baltimore a calming influence under center if something were to happen to Lamar Jackson.<\/p>\n Biggest question: Will Cooper Rush be needed?<\/p>\n The 31-year-old Rush is the consummate professional, having appeared in 38 games with a 9-5 record in 14 starts since he joined the Cowboys as an undrafted rookie in 2017. For his career, Rush has completed 330 of 554 passes (60.7%) for 3,463 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.
