Former Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker Joey Porter Sr. cleared the air on the famous \u201cbus incident\u201d with Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis in Week 1 of the 2003 season. Porter did not play in the game, as he was recovering from a gun shot wound, which occurred outside of a night club in Denver. Porter nearly suited up, however. <\/p>\n

\u201cI had just got show in Denver. This is Week 1, I have to miss the game. I\u2019m in pregame warm up, Ray Lewis is out there and getting ready for the game, he\u2019s looking at me and talking directly to me. \u2018This is my house, we about to do boom, boom, do this, X, Y and Z. I looked around like, \u2018Shit, who we talking, too? I looked, I said, \u2018Damn it\u2019s just me out here. I\u2019m like, man, you talking to me?\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cSo I start stretching. I\u2019m like, \u2018Shit, (Rodgers Freyvogel) go get my gear.\u2019 You think I can\u2019t go play, I\u2019m about to play today. Mind you my ass just got shot. I\u2019m about to Wolverine myself. This hole in my body is no longer there,\u201d Porter said on Cam Heyward\u2019s Not Just Football<\/a> podcast. <\/p>\n

\u2018Joey you\u2019re not playing,’\u201d Porter added while imitating Bill Cowher\u2019s voice. \u201cSo now I\u2019m so damn angry because Ray got me so gassed up.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Steelers defeated the Ravens, 34-15, but the animosity between the two teams continued after the game. <\/p>\n

\u201cPlax and Corey Fuller are going at it. They\u2019re talking having a conversation. Ray come out and he sees Corey. He\u2019s like Corey, \u2018You good over there?\u2019 And I\u2019m like \u2026 \u2018Nah, he ain\u2019t good, come and check on him,\u201d Porter explained. \u201cThen he said, \u2018Nah man, I\u2019m (going to) pray for you.\u2019 And then he got on the bus, and that shit made me mad. That\u2019s why I started walking toward the bus. I\u2019m like you talked all that shit. Now don\u2019t sent me a prayer. Don\u2019t pray for me mother******. <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd then they see me walking toward (the bus), and that\u2019s when they start the story, \u2018Oh, Joey got on the bus trying to fight Ray Lewis!\u2019 People who know the story, they know.\u201d <\/p>\n

So there you have it, Porter did not actually go on the Ravens\u2019 team bus and try to fight Ray Lewis. Nevertheless, it sure is an entertaining story. There was nothing like the Steelers-Ravens rivalry in the 2000s. <\/p>\n
