But another noteworthy visitor whose drive to Fayetteville just got a lot shorter is wide receiver Dequane Prevo.

Prevo is a four-star prospect according to Rivals and ESPN and a three-star in 247Sports and On3’s rankings. As a junior last year, he caught 72 passes for 1,541 yards and 21 touchdowns in 12 games for Liberty-Eylau High School on the Texas side of Texarkana.

247Sports scout Gabe Brooks described him as a “playmaking receiver who could live in the slot” with “excellent run-after-catch ability” in spite of his small stature. Brooks also called the 5-foot-10, 160-pounder a “natural playmaker” who “displays advanced aerial acrobatics to compete for the ball.

Prevo committed to Arkansas back in November, but was considered a flip candidate to SMU by Rivals’ Adam Gorney after an official visit to Dallas in May. Gorney wrote on May 8 that there “can be a change” in his recruitment after he “felt like family with the Mustangs.” The message from head coach Rhett Lashlee, an Arkansas alum, was that SMU has “a spot ready for him right now.”

But on June 13, Prevo tweeted that he had officially enrolled at Bentonville High School for his senior year, where he would play alongside fellow Razorback wide receiver commit Blair Irvin a half hour away from Arkansas’ campus. After his move to Northwest Arkansas and another visit to Fayetteville, Prevo seems to be locked in on his commitment to the Hogs.

While the Hogs “gained” an in-state commitment with Prevo’s move from Texas to Arkansas, they lost an in-state four-star when defensive lineman Anthony Kennedy cut the Hogs from his list of schools on Monday.

Kennedy committed to Missouri in December, but backed off that pledge in May, which seemed to generate another life for the Hogs. The Little Rock Central prospect was scheduled to take an official visit to Arkansas on June 13, but canceled the trip. A source indicated to Best of Arkansas Sports that the Razorbacks were unwilling to meet his NIL asking price.

Sure enough, Kennedy was back in Columbia for an official visit over the weekend and announced a top three of Missouri, Miami and SMU afterwards. The 6-foot-4, 335-pounder took official visits with the Hurricanes on May 30 and the Mustangs on June 6. If he commits to SMU or Missouri, then the Little Rock product will be heading out of the state to play for an Arkansan head coach, whether that be Lashlee or Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz.

Arkansas Extinguishes Latest UCLA Threat

Even before they met in the College World Series last week, UCLA spent a lot of time in Arkansas airspace in the spring after poaching four-star quarterback Madden Iamaleava out to Los Angeles to join his brother, Nico, after just a few months in Fayetteville. The prospect of getting taken to court by the Razorbacks didn’t do enough to deter the Bruins, as they also made an effort this summer to flip defensive back Tay Lockett from Arkansas.

The three-star recruit from San Diego took an official visit to UCLA in May that had many worried about him staying close to home and flipping to the Bruins. After his trip to Fayetteville this past weekend, Lockett made it clear he’s locked in on his commitment to Arkansas. He told Best of Arkansas Sports he only took the UCLA visit out of courtesy and respect for his home-state school, but is looking forward to playing for the Razorbacks.

But the Bruins aren’t done meddling with the Hogs just yet. Three-star wide receiver Jace Brown signed with Arkansas in December, but was released from his letter of intent in May shortly after his high school teammate Iamaleava left Arkansas for UCLA.

The Bruins’ official program account tweeted out a photo of Brown as part of a post about new signees moving in this weekend – despite the fact that neither Brown nor UCLA had announced he was committed. The post was deleted shortly after. This user captured a screenshot of the photo UCLA initially put out.

3 star Jace Brown looks to have flipped back to UCLA after flipping to Arkansas.

He’s 6’4 200 pounds and is good friends with Madden Iamaleava pic.twitter.com/ro43JzIndI

— 🦎 (@LandOfNix) June 21, 2025

Brown’s situation is a strange one, but it seems he’ll soon join the Bruins even if they got their order of operations mixed up.

Four-star linebacker JJ Bush visited over the weekend and said he enjoyed the program’s culture and the opportunity to sit down and go over film with defensive coordinator Travis Williams. Bush is deciding between Arkansas, LSU, Missouri and Cincinnati, and will announce his decision on July 2.

Three-star defensive back Victor Lincoln committed to Oklahoma on April 28 but was in Fayetteville for an official visit over the weekend. Williams had the Lancaster, Texas, native over to his house for dinner, and he is considered a flip candidate from the Pokes to the Hogs.

“I could live down here for years,” Lincoln said after his trip. “I don’t even want to go home, that’s how wonderful it is…it felt like I’m already at home.”

Arkansas gained a commitment on Friday from Shreveport, La., native Ashton Dawson. An unranked prospect listed as a defensive lineman by 247Sports, Dawson was recruited to the Hogs as a fullback. The 6-foot-2, 285-pounder will be the first scholarship fullback of the Pittman era, and brings Arkansas up to 22 commitments in the 2026 class.

Long snapper Eli Haltom committed to Arkansas on Sunday as a preferred walk-on. The 6-foot-5, 215-pounder hails from Texarkana, Texas.

The Hogs also received major updates on a number of their priority targets, including a pair of blue-chip four stars…

Already a subscriber?
